Bette Midler . Did you know that Bette Midler also starred in movies such as 'The Rose', 'The Thorn', 'Beaches', 'For the Boys' and 'Gypsy'?
Sarah Jessica Parker. Sarah Jessica Parker is famous for her role in 'Sex and the City'. Beside that big role on tv, she starred in several movies and even played 'Annie' on Broadway!
Kathy Najimy. Kathy Najimy starred in 'Rat Race', 'If These Walls Could Talk II', 'The Wedding Planner' and 'Sister Act', parts one and two.
Vinessa Shaw. Vinessa Shaw didn't star in many big movies. 'Eyes Wide Shut' is one of the biggest movies she acted in. She also starred in the 2002 movie '40 Days and 40 Nights'. This movie has Josh Hartnett in the lead role.
Thora Birch. A very young Thora Birch starred in this movie as Max's (Omri Katz) little sister, Dani. Birch has since acted alongside many big names: Ned Beatty, Melanie Griffith, Don Johnson, Harrison Ford, Bette Midler, Rebecca DeMornay, Natalie Portman, Susan Sarandon, Kevin Spacey, Steve Buscemi and Jeremy Irons!

Winifred. Winifred was one of the Sanderson sisters and she was the smartest one. She was the one trying to conjure the spell to suck the lives out of the children of Salem. She said this line to her other two sisters, in the beginning of the movie, because she was called a hag by Thackery (Binx.)

Dani. Dani was Max's little sister and was the one who got kidnapped near the end of the movie. All throughout the movie, she was dressed up as a witch (go figure). Dani was saying this to their mother at a party, right before everybody was put under a spell. The four (Binx included) were hoping that she would be able to help.
Emily. Emily was Binx's sister who died in the beginning of the movie, thanks to the Sanderson sisters' spell that caused her to lose her life force. She only appeared twice in the movie. This was said at the end of the movie because her spirit returned after the three sisters were beaten. She was waiting for Thackery (Binx) for three hundred years because he couldn't die thanks to another one of the Sanderson sister's spells.

Madonna. Madonna was what the mother of Max and Dani dressed up as for the Halloween party, and Winifred, Sarah and Mary were the Sanderson sisters.

cat. In the beggining of the movie Thackery was turned into a black cat with eternal life. When Thackery woke up he realized that his sister was not there. He then went outside and saw her running towards the Sanderson house. Upon looking in the window he saw that the witches were going to kill his sister, and he climbed into the top portion of the house. When the witches realized that he was in the house they got angry and turned him into a cat. Winifred said that he would have to live forever with his guilt of having not been able to save his sister.
Salem. The movie was set in Salem Massachusetts; this was mentioned a few times. Salem is an appropriate setting for the movie because this is where the Salem witch trials originally took place in 1692. During these trials 20 people were executed on the accusation of being witches, and 150 more were thrown in prison.
Sarah. Sarah sang this song to lure the children, so the witches' could suck the life out of them. She sang this in the beginning of the movie to lure Emily Binx, and in the middle of the movie, after taking Dani, to lure all the children of Salem.
Bette Midler. Winifred (Winnie) was played by Bette Midler. Sarah Jessica Parker played Sarah, and Thora Birch played Dani. Bette Midler also starred in the movie "Beaches" (one of my favorites) as well as "The First Wives Club", "Stepford Wives", and "Stella". Bette Midler is also known for her singing career. She has released numerous albums between the years 1972 and 2006. Sarah Jessica Parker is best known for her role in "Sex and the City".

burning rain of death. When Max lit the lighter below the sprinklers, he said "I summon the burning rain of death."
Clark bars. It was called a "chocolate covered finger of a man named Clark" by the witches. Then, after Mary ate it she said, "Ew it's candy, why would the Master give us candy?" Winifred responded by telling her that he was not their Master.

Sarah's. Sarah's broom's bristles were split in half. This was seen right before they went into the Master's house, after getting off the bus.
Emily. Thora Birch played Dani, and Allison was the girl who later became Max's girlfriend. Numerous times in the movie Thackery Binx mentioned his sister's name. Her name could also be seen on the gravestone in the begining of the movie, when Binx told Dani, Allison, and Max about what happened 300 years ago.
Winnie. Winnie turned to stone, then Sarah turned to purple dust. Mary turned to red dust and finally Winnie turned to green dust. This was at the very end of the movie. When the witches turned to dust all of their spells were broken, including Thackery Binx's eternal life as a cat spell, and the parents of Salem's "Dance, Until you Die" spell.
Jacob Bailey High School. "Halloweentown High" is a different Disney movie entirely. John Adams High is the school Cory, Topanga, and Shawn went to in the ever popular "Boy Meets World" series. Last, but not least, Park Hill High is my school! The name of the school is shown at the very beginning of the movie, after class is dismissed. Not much is known about the school except that it tells legends about the Sanderson sisters on Halloween and has a full sized kiln, which is used later in the movie to knockout the sisters for a short time.

a bit of thine own tongue. As far as anyone can tell, eye of newt isn't an ingredient in the potion. The other two, while real ingredients, come before the tongue bit. The purpose of the potion is to make known the presence of a person's life force, which can then, being revealed, be bottled, inhaled, or otherwise removed. Thackery Binx's little sister, Emily, was killed when the life was sucked out of her by the Sanderson sisters, at the beginning of the movie.
Black Cat. Thackery was turned into a black cat by the Sanderson sisters. After attacking them and ruining their potion, they cursed him to live forever with the guilt of not being able to save his sister from them. He is, for all intent purposes, immortal.

I Put a Spell On You. Sarah sings "Come Little Children" to entice the children of Salem into coming to the witch's house to be eaten. "Wind Beneath my Wings", while performed by Bette Midler often, does not appear in this movie.
She uses the song to put a spell on the parents of Salem. She tells them to dance until they die. She does this as a distraction, so she can kill the children without parental interference.

Salt can also be thrown at the witches to force them back, as seen in the graveyard battle.

eternal youth and beauty. In order to remain young and beautiful forever, the sisters are willing to commit mass murder. Absorbing the life energy of children will give the child's youth to the person who absorbs the energy. They sold their souls for power and got what they deserved. If you thought they were seeking redemption, maybe you need to watch it again.
Omri Katz. Leonardo DiCaprio was considered for the role but DiCaprio declined in favor of appearing in "What's Eating Gilbert Grape?" Subsequently Katz got the role. Katz was the star of "Eerie, Indiana" and appeared on a few episodes of "The John Larroquette Show".

Human Flesh. While the devil himself supposedly gave it to her, supported by the fact she called a guy in a "satan suit" Master, the book contains no devilish parts. Cow leather and sheep skin are actually used to bind books, but are way too conventional for an unholy spellbook. Allison tells of a legend about the book, and how it was given to Winnifred Sanderson by the devil himself. She says that it was bound by human flesh.
