Interesting Questions, Facts, and Information
Independence Day
New Mexico. S.E.T.I., Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence Institute in New Mexico, typed out on the screen. Also, the Space Command says they are the only others to know about this.
The Moon. SETI in New Mexico reveals this in the begining of the movie, 375,000 kilometers away.
1/4 the size. They mention this in the Space Command when they first found out about the "object."
Letterman. She told her mom this on the phone and her dad called her a "traitor".
What newspaper was the President looking at when he came out of his room the morning before the attacks? | "Independence Day" Trivia
|
USA Today. Connie was reading the same paper. He gave his security guard the sports section. If you've ever seen this paper before, you should recognize either the front, or the back. The back ALWAYS has a map of the United States weather.
3 years. David's insightful Dad reminds him of this while playing chess in the park.
Iraq. The first time we see a ship, they take us to the Northern Desert in Iraq, although General Grey says afterwards it's the second one spotted.
At the cable office, how long did David say the signal had before it would recycle itself and disappear? | "Independence Day" Trivia
|
7 hours. David tells his co-workers this when everyone is watching the news of the aliens, but no one seemed to listen.
Marty. Later, his brother, housekeeper, and his lawyer. Ahh, forget his lawyer!
Mike. They post his name on the news report about Russell Casse and his
Post War Stress Syndrome, and you can just about see it on his shirt in the diner.
Atlanta. Aunt Ester's house in Atlanta, as he asks David why he just sent his mother to Atlanta.
Plymouth. David, upon getting a shotgun pointed in his face, asks his dad if he still has the Plymouth.
Nellis AFB. He tells her over the phone that he wants her out of LA and that the helicopter is waiting to take her to Nellis.
Marines. Interestingly enough, I thought he'd be in the Air Force. 1: Steven says this to Jimmy when he tells him to put his mask back on in plane. 2: Letter to Wil Smith CLEARLY reads USMC, El Toro United States Marine Corp Base. 3: Jimmy even reads the letter to Captian Hillard saying and I quote, "Captian Steven Hillard..loser. United States Marine Corp...we regret...."
Captain. His friend Jimmy reads the rejection letter from NASA and says, "Captain Steven Hillar."
Welcome Make Yourselves at Home. She made it herself and is going down there as soon as she gets off from work. She promised Jasmine not to go, but she showed up anyway.
Jasmine's friend at the strip club was watching a TV broadcast about the alien party on the rooftop. What broadcast was she watching? | "Independence Day" Trivia
|
Entertainment Tonight. Remember this quote from the show, "Oh god! I hope they bring back Elvis!"
What was the name of the main helicopter trying to make contact with the aliens (the first one to commence with the lights)? | "Independence Day" Trivia
|
Welcome Wagon. Echo One was the helicopter right beside Welcome Wagon, as said by both pilots.
Julius. Julius Levinson. I can account at least 3 times his name is heard, the first being introducing himself to the President, and Connie twice on Air Force One.
Raven. Most of the time, a pilot's "call name" is a bird. Although they do call him Reverend, his plane says Raven.
John Lennon. "'All you need is love'. John Lennon, smart man. Shot in the back, very sad." Seems David's father is still living in the past!
Maintenance Truck. Clearly written on the doors: "California Highway Maint."
Area 51. Same place the President and everyone aboard Air Force One is going, the military base that isn't on the map.
15 years. The director of the project at Area 51 tells the president this. He looks like he's been underground that long anyways!
f. They're shown the alien aircraft first, the Big Tamale, by Dr Okun.
The Freak Show. The Vault is its ORIGINAL name, the doctors call it "The Freak Show" according to Dr. Okun, who looks like the real freak show to me.
NATO and Western Allied. He says they were the first to be taken out, but we saw Los Angeles take the hit first.
Release Me. As he's talking to the President through an apparently deceased Dr. Okun, he tells the President to release him, and then for all of us to die.
Houston. Ain't much in Houston anyway, right? Everything was deserted, so casualties would be kept to a minimum.
A Cold. His father's idea, wasn't it? Giving the Mothership the virus would lower their shields for a matter of minutes.
