Tax free. In the beginning of the movie, Riley's car was towed off when he was having his book-signing session in a bookshop. Throughout the movie, he kept complaining about the tax he was paying. The note was sent to him by the President as a token of appreciation for Riley for finding the treasure.

Mount Rushmore. Mitch agreed to tell the clues that were contained in the diary to Benjamin, with the condition that he got the credit for finding the treasure. From his next clue, Benjamin knew that the clue only showed itself during a rainy day. So, he asked the others to sprinkle water on the rock. Eventually, Abigail found the location of the switch, which triggered the entrance to the place where the treasure was hidden.

During the birthday party of the President. Benjamin disguised himself as a waiter and he tricked the President and led him into a secret tunnel in an abandoned tunnel. While there, he had the chance to speak to the President alone. Later, the President revealed to Benjamin that "The Book of Secrets" did exist.
He also told Benjamin that the book was kept in the Library of Congress. Before Benjamin left, the President asked him to do a favor for him by taking a look at page 47 of the Book of Secrets. These details, of course, proved to be the vital information for the next movie sequel.
The City of Gold. However, according to Benjamin's mother, Emily, the word "Cibola" meant the centre of the golden cities. Many people believed that this city did not exist in the real world.

Benjamin's mother. At first, Benjamin's father, Patrick, refused to go and meet his wife, Emily. They had not spoken for 32 years. Later, after Benjamin's persuasion, they headed off to the University of Maryland to seek help from Emily.

The one near the Seine river, Paris, France. The previous clue "Laboulaye" stated that the Statue of Liberty in France was the correct one. Edward Laboulaye was a French jurist who came up with the idea of the creation of the French Statue of Liberty.
In Paris, Riley used his remote control helicopter to obtain the next clue. The policemen there later gave him a ticket, because the buzzing noise of the helicopter disturbed the residents early in the morning.
|The movie began with the scene of President Lincoln's assassination in the theatre. At the same time, Patrick's grandfather managed to decode a message from a stranger's diary. After he solved the riddle, he was shot by the stranger. He quickly threw the piece of diary into the fireplace, which led us to think that the piece of paper was lost forever. Mitch Wilkinson. Mitch Wilkinson's great great grandfather was the stranger who killed Patrick's grandfather. Later, Mitch also searched for the lost treasure, together with Benjamin Franklin. The former was the antagonist, while the latter was the protagonist in this movie.
Patrick's grandfather managed to decode the words "treasure" and "gold". When the stranger tried to shoot him, he desperately threw that piece of diary into the fire.
Many years later, Mitch Wilkinson showed up in a speech given by Benjamin Gates. He surprised the public and the media by showing that piece of the diary. In order to stop the humiliation and speculation by the public that Patrick's grandfather was a co-conspirator in the assassination of President Lincoln, Benjamin started his adventure to search for the lost treasure.
The Library of Congress. When he is asked where he keeps the book he responds, "Where would you keep a book? In a library." He has it in the Library of Congress. He also gives Ben all the codes he will need to get to the Book of Secrets in the Library of Congress.
Mount Vernon. He has his party at Mount Vernon. Riley keeps booking places that the President wants for his party, so that the only available spot for the President's party is Mount Vernon. Ben is able to get him away and get him to tell him where he keeps the Book of Secrets.
Emily. Her name is Emily. Patrick is her ex-husband. She teaches at the University, and is able to translate the piece of wood found in the desk.
On the torch. The clue is on her torch. It is in French so Ben asks the French police officers what it means. Riley is upset because Ben doesn't let him translate it. When Ben needs a ride Riley responds, "Why don't you ask your new best friend?"
France. He needs to find the one in France. Ben and Riley fly a helicopter around it to try and find where the clue is. Two police officers ask Ben to stop the helicopter because it is making too much noise. When they ask whose helicopter it is, Riley says it is his and the police officers say that he can pay the fine.
A clue to the Lost City of Gold. He finds a clue to the Lost City of Gold. Ben and Riley convince Abigail to show them what is on the back of the page and to make a copy of it. It leads him to the Statue of Liberty, but there are three Statues of Liberty. The clue refers to the statue as his lady, and Ben knows which one it is.
A missing page from Wilkes' diary. Mitch presents a page from John Wilkes Booth's diary. He says it was given to him by his great, great grandfather. Mitch and Ben don't hit it off when they're together. So right away they're enemies.
Five days after the Civil War. The movie starts out with a re-enactment of the night that President Lincoln was shot by John Wilkes Booth. It ends up that Ben is telling the story at a conference.
Justin Bartha. Justin Bartha is the actor who plays Riley. He is Ben's best friend and helps him greatly when they go on treasure hunts. He has many funny lines in his role and totally makes the movie.
To look at page 47 in the Book of Secrets. He asked him to check page 47 in the Book of Secrets. While Ben was trying to convince the President to tell him where he kept the Book of Secrets, the President finally told him where, the Library of Congress. But before Ben left he asked him to check out page 47 for him. I think that there will be a third movie in this series.
A dog stopped them from behind Ben's car. A dog stopped them. It was really funny! The dog was just sitting there and sniffed the camera on the back of the car. Ben was driving in reverse when the dog stopped them he went forward. There was a car chase because Ben had the piece of wood with the Old Colonial Writing on it from Queen Victoria's desk. Mitch wanted it and it developed into a car chase until Ben finally handed it over.
His car. Earlier in the movie, Riley's car got towed. At the end the President gave it back to him.
death. The key word was death. Patrick then remembered what his ancestor said many years ago - and that was the answer. The clue said "Laboulle La..." The finished clue was "Laboulle Lady".
Mitch. Mitch helped her up. She reached the ladder, but couldn't get her feet onto the rungs. She was ready to let go when Mitch offered her his hand and helped her up.
Somebody asked him to sign his book. A girl asked Riley to sign her copy of his book. He was shocked that somebody would want him to sign a copy of his book, and he thought she was pretty too!
Mitch. Mitch got left behind. He agreed to let Ben go free if he told everyone that Mitch found the City of Gold. He had to be left behind because water was slowly filling in the room that they occupied. The wall only slid up if you moved the wheel, but somebody had to stay behind in order for the wall to remain open.
Mitch. Ben wanted to jump first, but Mitch said he was going to jump first because he refused to be last. They had to jump off the platform because they fell onto it by accident. They needed to get off it because it was slowly rather than quickly falling apart. If they didn't jump to the rope ladder they would have fallen into the pit below and would have died.
Mt. Rushmore. Mt. Rushmore was the cover up. Mitch joined Emily, Patrick, Ben, Riley, and Abigail on the hunt for the City of Gold. Somebody covered the lost City of Gold with Mt. Rushmore, because they did not want anybody to find the city.
Riley. Riley wrote the book. He was played by the actor Justin Bartha. He was disappointed because nobody knew him. They thought that it was only Ben who found the treasure. To learn more about the Knight Templar's treasure watch "National Treasure," which was the first movie.
Mount Rushmore. Cibola is located behind Mount Rushmore and it is said that Mount Rushmore is a distraction to hide the ancient city. There is a secret entrance where Ben has to put his hand in a hole to pull a latch opening the entrance.
Ferrari. In the beginning, Riley is signing books when a lady tells him that his car is being towed. Then he runs out and after it, but it's already being towed.
University of Maryland. Ben's mom, Emily Gates has had bad times with her husband Patrick. She is a professor of linguistics. She reads the ancient glyphs that are from ancient cultures.
Yes, the Library of Congress. The President's secret book is speculated about in Riley's book. When Ben kidnaps the President, the President tells Ben that the secret book is in the Library of Congress. Only the presidents know where the book is and can hide it anywhere they want.
Cell Phone. Mitch and his goons knock out Ben's dad, Patrick and clone his cell phone to keep an eye on him and Ben. Mitch wants to know exactly what Ben knows, and Mitch knows Ben will tell his dad everything.
