Secret Window .
screwdriver. Hardware tools seem to be the choice of weapon in this movie. Mort uses another screwdriver, if not the same one, to kill another guy. It was kind of the unconventional way of killing someone instead of using a knife or gun.
Quebec, Canada. Ninety five percent of this movie was filmed here, with the exception of the few shots that were filmed in New York.
Jack Daniels. Jack Daniels was Mort's friend during their marriage, when Amy came along, she was able to help him quit for a while.
1990. Fourteen years later, King's novel was taken to the big screen. Unlike his other works, that were sometimes taken to screen after publication, 'Secret Window' had more loose ends to tie up.
Amy. Amy Rainey, played by Maria Bello, was her name before she had an affair.
No. He had them removed for this movie. But he did have them for quite a while, in different interviews that I saw before this movie.
His wife and another man. Amy had felt that the relationship was pretty much dead, while Mort probably didn't even have a clue.
Shortnin' Bread. When Johnny's character was singing this I could just imagine him cooking up some corn or making corn bread. It was quite funny, yet also very eerie.
pages 83-98. That entire section was missing from the magazine that Mort had Fed Exed to himself. Little did he know that he really did it himself.
author. He was the best selling author of 'Secret Window', which his evil alter ego, Shooter, thought he stole from him.
John Turturro. John Turturro played Shooter; Johnny Depp played Mort Rainey; and Orlando Bloom and Tom Cruise weren't in the movie.
green. You can see Tom Greenleaf's truck three times in the movie: When he first drives by Mort and Shooter, when Mort finds Tom and Ken (the detective) dead in the truck, and when Mort flashes back to Tom driving by him. They might have done this on purpose: Greenleaf-green truck.
Jack Daniels. He mentioned it on the phone with Amy, and towards the end we see an almost empty bottle on his coffee table.
Mountain Dew. During one of the first scenes, Mort was shown drinking Mountain Dew.
Mississippi. Shooter is from Mississippi, Ted is from Tennessee, Amy and Ted lived in New York and no one lived in Alabama.
1994. Shooter said he wrote his story in 1997. Mort says that he wrote his in late 1994 and it was published in June of 1995.
Writer . The whole movie is about a guy who claims Mort Rainey stole his story.
Johnny Depp. Tom Cruise and Orlando Bloom weren't in the movie, and John Turturro was Shooter.
ear of corn. The last shot in the movie is Mort biting down on an ear of corn. The ending for the movie "Secret Window" is the same as the new ending to Mort's story "Secret Window".
Mort Rainey. It turned out that Mort was a little crazy and created this alter ego to kill people. Then after he killed them, he blocked it from his memory, and blamed Shooter for killing them.
red. The screw driver could be seen a few times throughout the movie.
Chico. The name was said several times throughout the movie. When Amy came into the cabin to get Mort to sign the divorce papers she was calling Chico's name. "Chi-i-i-i-co-o-o-o, don't be disco-o-o-oura-a-a-aged!" Mort said this when he was on the floor with Chico.
"I'm a dairy farmer from Mississippi.". Towards the end of the movie Mort has a flashback where he buys Shooter's hat at what looks like a yard sale.
a note. He got tired of waiting for Mort to wake up so he was going to pin a note to his head.
83. When Mort opened the magazine in the table of contents it said "Secret Window" started on 83, then he went to turn to 83, but it was missing. The pages went from 82 to 99.
True. Mort gets the magazine, but when he opens it up to the page his story should be on, the story was ripped out of the magazine.
Ellery Queen. "Four Past Midnight" is the name of the Book that Stephen King has "Secret Window, Secret Garden" (the Novella the movie was based on) published in, "Everyone Drops the Dime" is a book of Mort's works (including "Secret Window"), "Killer Thrillers" is a name that I just made up, and "Ellery Queen" is the actual magazine that "Secret Window" was first published in.
corn on the cob. The book Mort is writing also ends the same way.
Yes. Mort writes "shoot her" all over the house after he puts the hat on and he talks to himself (there are two of him) and figures out that he is actually "Shooter".
4. Amy Rainey (Mort's ex-wife to be), Tom Greenleaf (neighbor), Ted Milner (Amy's boyfriend), Ken Karsch (detective). Chico also dies, but he is not a person.

2. Mort and Ted are fighting about the papers over the fire, to the point that the insurance agent tells Ted that he has to leave. So Ted turns to Amy and says, "I guess I'll take a walk around the block." Mort (even more angry) says, "Ah, heck, Ted. Why don't you live a little? Make it two."
