Shrek
He sacrifices himself for the other ogres.. Rumpelstiltskin has offered a special contract of wish fulfillment to anyone who can bring Shrek in. Shrek himself collects on this contract, asking for the release of all other ogres as his wish. Rumpelstiltskin complies, but doesn't release Fiona because he says that she does not qualify, only being half ogre. Shrek's one day is just about up and he is beginning to disappear, because he never was born. Fiona kisses him and for a minute, it appears that she is too late. Then Puss notices that Fiona is still an ogre, after the sun has come up and everyone realizes that love's true kiss has broken her curse, and his contract with Rumpelstiltskin. Shrek is returned to the birthday party, happy for the life he has.
What does Dragon do to Donkey the first time they meet, in Rumpelstiltskin's version Far Far Away? | Shrek Forever After
|
She tries to eat him.. Because Shrek has told Donkey that Dragon is his wife, Donkey is not frightened of her. They come nose to nose and Donkey seems smitten. Then she opens her mouth and takes him in her mouth. Puss in Boots sticks his sword into her neck, causing her to release Donkey, who yells "I'll call you." as they pull away on a broom.
the Pied Piper. Rumplestiltskin is desperate to find Shrek, to stop him from unravelling all he has created. He lets it be known that he (Rumpelstiltskin) is going to be leading the nightly raiding party and the band of ogres, led by Fiona, become determined to ambush him. However Rumpelstiltskin is not there, but the Pied Piper is (disguised in a giant duck suit). He has his pipe set for ogres and compels them to dance their way to the castle, where Rumpelstiltskin takes them prisoner.
leading a band of rebel ogres. Because Shrek was not around to rescue her, Fiona broke herself out of the tower. Lacking true love's kiss, her curse has not been broken, so she is still a princess by day and an ogress by night. However in this reality, she seems to be more in touch with her ogre side and is very militant about bringing an end to Rumpelstiltskin's reign of terror over ogres.
Shrek joins her band and tries to convince her that he is her true love, but she doesn't believe him. He finally talks her into kissing him, but because she does not love him, nothing happens.
that there is always an escape clause. In the original Rumpelstiltskin fairy tale, the escape clause was learning his name. Since that has become common knowledge in the movie, different escape clauses are used. Donkey shows Shrek that folding the contract a certain way reveals the escape clause. However Donkey folds it wrong and comes up with an escape clause that doesn't make sense. Shrek is able to fiddle with the folding and come up with true love's kiss as his escape clause.
What does Rumpelstiltskin keep changing, depending on his mood and what he has to do? | Shrek Forever After
|
his wig. Rumpelstiltskin is heard to request a different wig for a couple of reasons, including for the making of a proclamation (this one looks like something that a British Lord would wear). His angry wig, which he also demands, is red and long, and makes him look like a troll, one of those small dolls that were popular in the '60s. Dragon, as a servant of Rumpelstiltskin, can be seen putting a wig on him.
Donkey is pulling the cart in which Shrek is caged.. Rumpelstiltskin has declared war on ogres (because he is really searching for Shrek) and has enlisted the assistance of witches to capture them. Shrek is captured and finds himself in a cage on a wagon, being pulled by Donkey. The witches who have captured him are taking him to Rumpelstiltskin. When Shrek escapes from Rumpelstiltskin, by stealing a broom, he takes Donkey with him.
Because Shrek has never been born. Donkey does not remember him. Shrek tries to win him over, by telling him all about what his life had been like, including his marriage to Dragon and his little mutant babies. Donkey is intrigued by this.
Donkey is voiced by Eddie Murphy.
Shrek bumps into Rumpelstiltskin, who pretends not to know who Shrek is. He talks Shrek into signing a contract that gives Shrek one day as a regular, old style ogre. During this day people will be frightened of him and none of the responsibilities of marriage and parenthood will exist. What does Rumpelstiltskin take in exchange for this one day? | Shrek Forever After
|
the day Shrek was born. Rumpelstiltskin tells Shrek that he has to give him a day in exchange and casually suggests a day from Shrek's childhood. Shrek agrees and signs the contract. He later learns that because Rumpelstiltskin took the day he was born, once his one day of freedom is over, he will cease to exist, because he was never born. It also means that because Shrek wasn't there to rescue Fiona from the tower, the king and queen did sign the kingdom over to Rumplestiltskin and it was a far different world than the one he knew.
the birthday of their children. By this point in time, Shrek is starting to feel overly domestic and very much un-ogre like. His home is on a coach tour where the tour guide talks about how people used to be afraid of him. People ask him to autograph their pitchforks, which they once used to try and chase him away.
At the party an annoying child keeps pushing Shrek to "do the roar" and when Shrek finally does, people laugh and applaud rather than show fear. The birthday party has a cake (which the three pigs eat) that has a cartoonish picture of an ogre on it, which also offends Shrek. After the pigs eat the cake, Puss in Boots finds a second one. This angers Shrek and he smashes it. Fiona tries to talk to him but isn't terribly sympathetic about his attitude on their children's birthday.
Shrek is voiced by Mike Myers and Fiona by Cameron Diaz.
The beginning of the movie is a flashback. The King and Queen are making a deal with Rumpelstiltskin to have Fiona's curse broken. What are they giving to Rumplestiltskin in exchange for this service? | Shrek Forever After
|
the kingdom of Far Far Away. The King and Queen are tired of Fiona being locked up in the tower, a princess by day and a ogress by night. They are willing to sacrifice anything to have her curse lifted. At one point the King hesitates before signing the contract, obviously unsure as to whether this is the right thing to do. With feigned casualness, Rumpelstiltskin asks him if his kingdom is more important than his daughter. The King replies that nothing is more important than his daughter and starts to sign with new resolve. A messenger bursts in to tell them that the Princess has been rescued, saving the King from having to sign.
John Cleese and Julie Andrews provide the voices for the King and Queen and Walt Dohrn voices Rumpelstiltskin.
Eddie Murphy. Edward Regan Murphy (Eddie Murphy) is a very famous American actor. He seems to specialise in comedic roles. His hilarious sense of humour and big personality help this. He has appeared in many hit films including: "Beverly Hills Cop", Disney's "Mulan", "Dr. Dolittle" and "Daddy Day Care".
Mike Myers. Michael John Myers (Mike Myers) is a Canadian actor who's probably most famous for his role in the "Austin Powers" movies. He's had a very successful career, winning many awards including seven MTV movie awards!
Shrek manages to gain Fiona's love and kiss her in time to undo Rumpel's handiwork. Where is Shrek when everything is reversed and goes back to normal? | Shrek Forever After
|
Back at his kids birthday party. Shrek arrives back at his children's birthday party at the moment when he roars. This time after he roars he laughs with the rest of the guests instead of storming out. Nobody knows he was gone and nothing has changed. Shrek is happy to see his wife, children, Donkey and Puss again and live his life, appreciating what he's got.
After the ogres have been captured by Rumpel, with help from the Pied Piper, Shrek offers himself up to save the other ogres. Rumpel keeps his promise and frees all ogres but keeps Fiona behind. Why is this? | Shrek Forever After
|
She isn't ALL ogre.. Shrek is shocked to see Rumpel has broken his deal and kept Fiona back. But as Rumpel explains, he hasn't actually broken his promise. Fiona isn't ALL ogre because of the curse that was cast on her when she was little; she used to be a princess.
What food does Cookie, a member of the ogre resistance, plan on preparing for after their fight against Rumpel? | Shrek Forever After
|
Chimichangas. Chimichangas are basically a deep-fried burrito that originate from America. When going over the battle plan Fiona sees an unknown figurine, she asks what it is. Cookie, a comical and happy ogre says after fighting they're all going to be hungry and want his chimichangas! The unknown figurine is Cookie's chimichanga stand.
Rumpel hires the Pied Piper to capture Shrek and any other ogres he can find. How does the Pied Piper catch people? | Shrek Forever After
|
Forces them to dance. In "Shrek Forever After" the Pied Piper pays the flute, except his flute is not ordinary. When he plays the flute on a particular setting it will force the ogres to come to him and dance to the beat. He also uses this clever little invention on Rumpel in the end credits of the film.
Shrek is hassling Donkey to try and find Fiona's scent. After arguing he smells something. What is it? | Shrek Forever After
|
Waffles. After insisting that Donkeys are not dogs, Donkey smells something sweet and runs off into the forest. He finds a plate of syrup covered waffles on a tree stump, in the middle of a clearing. Shrek tells him he shouldn't eat them, because it's a bit suspicious that a plate of waffles would be out in the middle of nowhere. Donkey can't resist and licks a drop of syrup anyway, which springs a trap!
Donkey tells Shrek of the exit clause to get around a Rumpel deal. What is Shrek's exit clause? | Shrek Forever After
|
True love's kiss. Donkey takes Shrek's 'ogre for a day' contract and starts folding it in different directions to obtain the exit clause. He makes progress but it isn't quite right, so Shrek makes a few more folds and the clause is revealed as 'true love's kiss'. Shrek realises he needs to find Fiona and share a kiss with her, but where is she and will she, like Donkey, not know who he is?
White. Rumpel puts on his business wig when Pinocchio comes to him, looking to make a deal so he can become a real boy. He has a selection of wigs; all made by the big bad wolf or wolfy as Rumpel calls him. His speech wig and angry wig are also used in the film.
Old MacDonald. Donkey is working for the witches, pulling the cage in which Shrek is taken to see Rumpel. Shrek sparks up a conversation with Donkey, who seems to not know who he is! Donkey mentions that he doesn't want to work at Old MacDonalds; to the watcher this is a cleverly disguised reference to the McDonalds restaurants.
Under his carriage. Rumpel is plotting to get rid of Shrek by making him sign one of his dodgy deals. He gets Shrek's attention by pretending to be stuck under his horse drawn carriage, from which the wheel has fallen off. After Shrek saves him, Rumpel offers a lift and an eyeball martini, which Shrek just can't refuse...
What is Shrek asked to do at his kids' party, by a plump and annoying little boy? | Shrek Forever After
|
Roar. The boy's name isn't mentioned in the film but he was cast as Butter Pants. Butter Pants comes across as a spoilt boy whose father will do anything for him, including asking Shrek to do his famous ogre roar. After many annoyances (including Butter Pants, it has to be said) Shrek finally roars, silencing the whole room momentarily. The voice of Butter Pants is done by Mike Mitchell, an American actor and animator.
Fergus, Farkle, Felicia. These three ogre babies make their first appearance in "Shrek Forever After". Fergus is a Scottish name meaning 'Man of strength', this could have been chosen in relation to the fact Shrek has a Scottish accent. Felicia is a French name meaning 'Great happiness'; Fiona tells Shrek she's always wanted a girl named Felicia. Farkle isn't a common name but could be a reference to a French dice game. Shrek and various other characters mention the babies' names throughout the film. The three babies' existence is threatened in the film, when Shrek signs a sneaky deal with a short, tricky fellow named Rumplestiltskin (Rumpel).
