Interesting Questions, Facts, and Information
Starship Troopers .
someone who makes it his personal responsibility to protect the human race. It's said a couple of times in the movie. Maybe not the EXACT words, but if you've seen this movie, you know exactly which choice is the correct one.
Buenos Aires. 'My family... my whole family, was in Buenos Aires.' Feel kinda bad for these people!
bugs. GIANT BUGS. So gross.
Carmen. Carmen was actually his girlfriend. Dizz was a fling. Just once. Then she was killed. SO sad!
When you shoot at a bug, it's still 86 percent combat effective. How do you immobilize them? | Starship Troopers
|
shoot at their nerve stem. Here's some advice...
When Johnny and pals went to sign up for the federation, what was the 'sign-in' man missing? | Starship Troopers
|
all of them! (his arm, from the elbow down!, his left leg, from the knee down!, his right leg, from the knee down!). Johnny's signing up for Mobile Infantry and the guy says, 'Mobile Infantry made me the man I am today!'
Who do we see in this movie that we saw a whole lot of on TV in his younger years... he was a boy genius... and a Dr. even! What was the name of his character we used to watch? | Starship Troopers
|
Doogie Howser . Dr. Doogie was what?... like 15 or something like that? It was pretty cool show.
What is the saying the Federation Network Announcer says throughout the movie? | Starship Troopers
|
Would you like to know more. This seems kinda campy, but it shows the federation mentality in the movie.
What is Johnny's math finals score that his friend Carl displays to everybody on the monitor? | Starship Troopers
|
35%. Not cool, Carl. Johnny isn't that smart but follows his girfriend to the Federation to become a citizen and joins the mobile infantry.
a trip to Zegema Beach. A good thing he didn't go. Zegema Beach was destroyed by the bugs!
Michael Ironside . Great B movie actor. He is one actor that can portray a likeable villain.
Games and Theory. Carl (aka Doogie Howser) has a cool character personality transformation throughout the film.
1 . Best Effects, Visual Effects.
Cyrano. He uses ESP and sends it up his mother's leg, "Carl"!
Rico. But Rico messes up and Ace then becomes the squad leader.
Breckinridge. Breckinridge could not get his helmet on right, so he had Rico help him. When he took it off he was shot in the head by accident. Rico was given administrative punishment for negligence. He was whipped 10 times in public.
Robert A. Heinlein. He also wrote "Puppet Masters" and "Red Planet". The movie was changed quite a lot from the book.
Klendathu. The first battle scene takes place on this planet. The Federation gets whooped, to say the least.
What does the Federation designate the planet they think has a brain bug on it? | Starship Troopers
|
Planet P. The first fight scene on this planet is awesome! This is where the effects really look great. You see how outnumbered the humans truly are.
Zim. Remember? He had to bust himself down to private from sergeant to fight in the mobile infantry. Rico and Ace saved Carmen from the bugs while Zim captured the brain bug. Zander had his brains sucked out of his head by the brain bug.
"I'm doing my part.". There were quite a few Federal Notices throughout the movie. They're shown from the perspective of some no-name civilian watching the galactic news network. After every new clip is played, a voice would ask, "Would you like to know more?" The helpful mouse pointer would then appear and click on everything for you so you wouldn't actually have to do anything (just like it's susposed to be in a movie)!
In the opening Federal Network notice they actually used shots from scenes that take took place later in the movie. After all the happy and joyful troopers said their line, it cut to a live feed on Klendathu, where the troopers had just landed. They didn’t seem so happy when being slaughtered by giant bugs.
Three. The third time was the most forceful and snapped Johnny out of what he was doing. Mr. Rasczak told him to pay attention. Then, when Mr.Rasczak started droning on about what they had learned in the year, Johnny continued to work on his animation (all kids in the future each have their own computers in school). It was of himself and Carmen moving toward one-another, eyes closed, mouths open (I wonder what he was getting at).
Mr. Rasczak asked Johnny this question in class: "What is the moral difference, if any, between a civilian and a citizen?" What was Johnny's answer? | "Starship Troopers" Before the Storm
|
"A citizen accepts personal responsibility for the safety of the body politic, defending it with his life. A civilian does not.". Johnny answered using the exact words from the text. When he was asked if he understood or believed what it meant, he didn’t have an answer.
35%. According to Carmen, the first thing Fleet officials looked at was your math mark. When Carmen and Johnny went to see what they got, she ran ahead of Johnny, eager to see her mark. When the large 97% showed up, she turned around with a smile. When Johnny called up his score, Carl, his psychic friend, put it on the big screen for everyone to see and laugh at. Johnny was not happy.
Carmen. Johnny and Carmen were partners during the dissection. Johnny didn’t seem affected at all, but Carmen was grimacing during the entire class. She tried looking away, but only turned around to see another bug being opened up. When Johnny asked her to hold various organs such as the heart and stomach, she couldn't contain herself, threw up, and ran out of the class. For the scene, Denise Richards (Carmen) actually used chewed up banana and spat it out for effect.
During Johnny’s psychic study with Carl, which card did he choose when the six of diamonds was up? (He spent a long time thinking about this one.) | "Starship Troopers" Before the Storm
|
Ace of Spades. After he guessed wrong, Carl told him not to think about it and to just go by instinct. Johnny never got a single match. "Statistically speaking, you should have accidentally guessed right by now." Carl explained.
Ferret. Cyrano ran out of his tunnel system and ran across Carl’s keyboard. To get rid of Cyrano, Carl used his psychic abilities to plant the image of a grub up his own mom’s leg, in Cyrano’s mind. Cyrano ran up the stairs. After a quick explanation of what he did, they heard the screams of Carl’s mother.
Seven. You only get a few chances to see it, but you can. The numbers didn't actually play a significant part in the story. The Jump Ball game was where Johnny met Zander for the first time and told the audience just how athletic Johnny was. He used some of the plays from the Jump Ball game during his training for the Mobil Infantry.
Zander, Johnny’s rival in almost every way, was twelve. Zander was on the opposite team, started hitting on Carmen, and was in the Fleet, as opposed to Johnny who was in the Mobil Infantry. Carmen actually broke up with Johnny for Zander, as Zander was in the fleet with her, making a relationship easier.
Zegema Beach. Johnny always wanted to go to Zegema Beach, but ultimately decided to go into Federal Service for Carmen. Later, when he joined the Roughnecks, he commented that he had always wanted to go to Zegema Beach, but was told that it no longer existed.
At the last dance, Dizzy stole Johnny away while he was waiting for Carmen. Johnny said he wanted to go speak with Mr. Rasczak, and left Dizzy. Who came to take Johnny's place as Dizzy’s dance partner? | "Starship Troopers" Before the Storm
|
Carl. Johnny had a small chat with Mr. Rasczak about his future, and then moved off to find Carmen chatting with Zander. Johnny only got Carmen for the last dance of the night. When they tried kissing, Carl came in and broke them apart and Dizzy gave them one of the coldest glares she could muster.
