Perry White. Some people get confused and believe that Perry White was always the publisher of the 'Daily Planet', but he was only the Managing Editor. In 'Superman IV,' however, the 'Daily Planet' was purchased by David Warfield and turned into a tabloid rag. This angered Perry White to the point that he went to the bank, borrowed enough money and became a majority shareholder for the 'Daily Planet,' which effectively made him its publisher as well.

Tar. In 'Superman III' Richard Pryor had computers analyze Kryptonite so that Websco could synthesize it. One of the elements in authentic kryptonite's make-up, however, was unknown to the computer. Gus glanced down and saw the ingredient 'tar' on his carton of cigarettes, so he told the computers to use tar in place of the unknown element.
