Robert Powell. Robert Powell has played a variety of roles, including Jesus of Nazareth. He also played a detective in a spoof comedy role, partnering with Birmingham comedian Jasper Carrott.

Eric Clapton. The name of the part was changed. In the film Eric Clapton took the role of the Preacher, but on the album the part was written as "The Hawker". There are many differences between the film and the LP.
The Second World War. The original album was set in the early part of the 20th Century, i.e. World War 1. The film was set around World War 2 and after.
