She ran over his car with her truck. Oliver was still in the car.
He killed her cat. Oliver ran over the cat by accident with his car.
No. Benny was Oliver's dog. Barbara made Oliver think that she made pate out of Benny.
Danny DeVito. Danny DeVito also directed this movie.
Yes. They both fell from the chandelier.
Carved Oriental Statue. This is the scene where Oliver and Barbara first meet. It seems that even before they become aquainted, they are competing against one another. During the estate sale, Oliver is seen with an antique reference book. The auctioneer's description of the statue being Japanese is apparently incorrect, because Oliver's antique reference book clearly states that it is Chinese.
Madison. Oliver walks Barbara to the ferry because he is trying to impress her. He makes a point of saying that he is not rich and is attending Harvard on a scholarship, in a further attempt to impress her.
Gymnastics. Barbara mentions that she is not rich either, and is attending college on a gymnastics scholarship. She is concerned about growing taller because her vaulting and tumbling are not what they used to be. She then demonstrates a "strength move" for Oliver while standing on her hands.
Pate. Barbara receives so many compliments about her liver pate that she decides to start her own catering business. Although she is a marvelous cook, this undertaking is a diversion from her marital situation.
Benny. Oliver accidentally backs over Barbara's cat when he is on his way out to purchase a sleeping aid (which Barbara refused to give him). This is an unforunate event which doesn't help their marriage situation.
Corvette. This movie takes place over a period of about 20 years. Gavin is seen driving an updated Corvette as the story progresses. In particular, he drives a red Corvette Stingray to Barbara and Oliver's dinner party. Later, he is seen driving an updated 80's version of the vehicle.
Refusal to sell the house. Both Barbara and Oliver refuse to sell the house. Barbara contends that she found and redecorated the house, and therefore should be entitled to it. Oliver believes the house is rightly his because he paid for it. Sharing the house turns out to be a bad idea as they systematically destroy it to spite one another.
Hiatal Hernia. Oliver experiences chest pains and thinks he is dying from a heart attack. An unsympathetic ER doctor explains that his discomfort is a result of esophogeal tears, or hiatal hernia.
None of these. Because Barbara and Oliver both refused to sell and move out of their precious house, they end up dangling from a chandelier from which they plummet to their deaths.
