man. John Carter Cash was born in 1970, Johnny and June's only child. In the same year, the Johnny Cash Show premiered on ABC-TV with special guest, Bob Dylan. 1969 turned out to be Johnny's greatest year, as he sold over six and a half million records.
honest. His drug abuse increased to dangerous levels in 1965 and wife, Vivian, divorced him. June Carter stepped in to help Johnny kick his drug addiction and lead him back to Christianity. In 1968, Johnny recorded his new album 'At Folsom Prison' and it was a huge success.
dirty. In 1965, Johnny Cash was arrested returning from Mexico with 668 Dexedrine and 475 Equanil pills in his guitar case. A 30-day suspended jail term and $1,000 fine was given to him. Shortly after this arrest, Johnny performed on the Grand Ole Opry stoned, and in anger took the stand and dragged it across the footlights on the stage. The Opry promptly informed him they wouldn't be needing his performances any longer.
