Dave Gahan, according to history, was discovered by Daniel Miller (Mute Records boss) in a club while he was singing a cover song: which song was he singing? | Collecting Depeche Mode

Heroes (David Bowie). Dave Gahan lived in Basildon (UK).
Leo. The quiz creator is Pisces, you know....
Rammstein. Stripped originally comes from the Black Celebration album.
Counterfeit EP. Liquid and Unsound Methods are two albums by Recoil (Alan Wilder's solo project). Abracadabra EP is a magic joke by me!
Personal Jesus. On Aug 29th 1989 "Personal Jesus" was released as a single, charting
at #13 in the U.K. The band initially believed the song would be a
commercial flop. It's actually one of the best songs of their career.
It took 6 months to reach the Top 40 in America, eventually selling
over one million copies and becoming the biggest selling 12" single in
Warner Brothers history.
World in My Eyes. "Sea Of Sin" was also a B side for this single.
Never Let Me Down Again. The Glitter Mix of "Pleasure Little Treasure" was in the 1988 movie
"Bright Lights, Big City," starring Michael J. Fox.
Behind The Wheel. A bit of Nile Rogers remix for "Route 66" was played during a scene
in "Earth Girls Are Easy". A 1988 movie starring Geena Davis, Jeff
Goldblum, and a then relatively unknown guy - Jim Carrey.
Walking In My Shoes. "Walking In My Shoes" was mixed out of three different versions and
then ditched as the opening single because the band couldn't agree on
which song to use, they eventually settled on "I Feel You".
Dreaming of Me. "Dreaming Of Me" was selected by the group as their debut single
because they agreed it represented a mid-way point between their
poppiest material and some of the darker, less melodic tracks they'd
been playing live.
New Life. "New Life" reached #11 on the U.K. charts giving the band its first
T.V. appearance on "Top of the Pops".
Little 15. "Little 15" was released as a single in France, amazingly enough,
British fans bought it on import to push it into the U.K. Top 75
at #61.
A Question Of Lust. "A Question Of Lust" was the second single from "Black Celebration"
released in April of 1986. It achieved a modest #28 in the U.K. but in
Germany was another Top 10, peaking at #8. According to Alan Wilder,
the song includes 'a castanet sound created by dropping a ping-pong
ball on to the table and a string "twang" that originated from a
traditional Hungarian instrument like a zither (also used on "Master
And Servant" and "People Are People")."
'Something went wrong along the way, everybody's waiting for Judgement day' is from which song? | Depeche Mode Lyrics
|
Told You So. From the band's 'Construction Time Again' album. Not their finest hour, but it still has some decent cuts on it.
Something To Do. From 'Some Great Reward' although the live version of this track on '101' is infinitely better.
'The heat and the sickliest sweet smelling sheets that cling to the backs of my knees' is from which amazing song? | Depeche Mode Lyrics
|
Home. It was widely thought that Depeche Mode would never overcome both Dave Gahan's drug problems and the departure of Alan Wilder, but both critics and fans were surprised when the band returned with 'Ultra'. 'Home' is the album's high point, a shimmering vocal from Martin and sweeping strings. One of my favourite Mode tracks of all time.
World Full Of Nothing. One of the mellower tracks on 1986's 'Black Celebration'. This album and the subsequent tour really saw the band's popularity increase in Europe, along with the development of their darker, moodier leanings.
Which track from the late eighties contains the lines 'She knows your mind is not yet in league, with the rest of the world and its little intrigues'? | Depeche Mode Lyrics
|
Little 15. 'Little 15' was released as a single in France but not the UK or USA. A dark subject matter for a pop song.
'You've stripped my heart, ripped it apart in the name of fun' are lines from which track? | Depeche Mode Lyrics
|
Lillian. 2005's 'Playing The Angel' was a true return to form for the band, easliy their best album since the early nineties. It was also the first Mode album to see Dave sharing the writing duties with Martin.
In Your Room. Taken from 'Songs Of Faith and Devotion'. The 'Devotional' tour for this album has entered rock legend as one of the most debauched of all time. Andy Fletcher suffered a nervous breakdown during the midst of it.
