On the "Ben and a Piano" tour, what song did he sometimes bring a drum-kit out on stage to solo with? | Ben Folds
|
Steven's Last Night In Town. The stagehands would assemble the drum-kit walking onto stage and Ben would start playing them while they were finishing assembling it. After a 30 second solo he would go back to the piano and the stagehands would take it off again while Ben was finishing the show! Classy!

Why Does This Always Happen To Me. Ben plays piano on this track. It is an hilariously cheesy rip off of the style (even form) of Ben Folds songs! Complete with cool falsetto harmonies!

|
Queen. In each chorus Ben Folds eludes that he is as popular as these people were, except that "they were talented" because they did not rely on computers to fix their music up.
Some "Rockin' The Suburbs" lyrics!
In "Not The Same", what follows "and there you stayed..."? | Ben Folds
|
till morning came. First verse is...
"You took a trip and climbed a tree
at Robert Sledge's party.
And there you stayed till morning came
but you were not the same after that."
What was the release date of the "Rockin' The Suburbs" album? | Ben Folds

September 11, 2001. "Rockin' The Suburbs" was released on the same day as the September 11 tragedy.
What is the first track of the "Rockin' The Suburbs" album? | Ben Folds
|
Annie Waits. One of my favourite tracks on the album. Ben makes it clear straight away that he does not need Darren and Rob to be successful.
Benjamin Scott Folds. Benjamin Scott Folds was born on September 12th, 1966 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
I've saved the last one for breaking my rules, so I'm not giving you lyrics this time. On "Rockin' the Suburbs" there is a track entitled "Fred Jones Part 2", but Ben never wrote "Fred Jones" or "Fred Jones Part 1". What was his first song about Fred Jones? | Ben Folds Lyrics
|
Cigarette. From "Whatever and Ever Amen". It seems that Fred Jones has had a very tough life! The complete lyrics: "Fred Jones was worn out from caring for his often screaming and crying wife during the day, but he couldn't sleep at night for fear that she, in a stupor from the drugs that didn't ease the pain, would set the house ablaze with a cigarette."
What song features this complaint? "I come running when you want me here, and when you want me to I disappear." | Ben Folds Lyrics
|
Give Judy My Notice. From "Songs for Silverman". A song about ending a controlling relationship: "And Judy, I won't be your bitch anymore, and follow you around, and hold the door." Once again, Ben tends not to sugarcoat things, but that's why I love him!
"Why you gotta act like you know when you don't know? It's okay if you don't know everything." In what song does Ben offer these potentially comforting words? | Ben Folds Lyrics
|
Bastard. From "Songs For Silverman". The song contains one of my favorite gems of wisdom from Ben: "The more you know, you know you don't know shit."
Ben sings some pretty bad French. Here's what it's supposed to be: "Désolé, je suis américain. Please cook my steak again. Je suis américain. Désolé, je ne parle pas français." Which song is it? | Ben Folds Lyrics
|
Your Redneck Past. From "The Unauthorized Biography of Reinhold Messner". A song about, well, the "hundred ways to cover your redneck past." I thought the bad French was hilarious. If it was all in English, it would say, "Sorry, I am American. Please cook my steak again. I am American. Sorry, I do not speak French." Well, that explains that!
"Everyday she wears the same thing. I think she smokes pot. She's everything I want. She's everything I'm not." In which song does Ben sing about this eccentric woman? | Ben Folds Lyrics
|
Kate. From "Whatever and Ever Amen". Kate is certainly an eccentric woman, but it's her quirks that are so endearing.
What Ben Folds song contains the following lyrics? "When money talks, I hate to listen, but lately it's been screaming in my ear." | Ben Folds Lyrics
|
Emaline. From "Ben Folds Live" (among other albums not on my quiz). A song about relationship doubts. I love the vocal part in the chorus: "When I've had enough, I tell myself that we've learned our lesson, but I don't wanna walk away from Emaline!"
In which song does Ben tell this story? "Next door, there's an old man who lived to his nineties and one day passed away in his sleep. His wife, she stayed for a couple of days and passed away." | Ben Folds Lyrics
|
The Luckiest. From "Rockin' the Suburbs" and "Ben Folds Live". A very sweet love song; it continues: "I'm sorry, I know that's a strange way to tell you that I know we belong, that I am, I am, I am the luckiest."
"Give me my money back! Give me my money back, you bitch!" In what song does Ben sing so directly? | Ben Folds Lyrics
|
Song for the Dumped. From "Whatever and Ever Amen". Quite an appropriate title! Leave it to Ben Folds to be just that direct in song. But his fans seem to love him for it!
"I don't believe in God, so I can't be saved." In which song (not one of his lighter moments) does Ben reveal this? | Ben Folds Lyrics
|
Mess. From "The Unauthorized Biography of Reinhold Messner". It continues, "All alone as I've learned to be, in this mess I have made." A song about a failed relationship and its toll on the narrator.
Which song by Ben includes these lyrics? "Once you wanted revolution. Now you're the institution. How's it feel to be the man? It's no fun to be the man." | Ben Folds Lyrics
|
The Ascent of Stan. From "Rockin' the Suburbs". I'm not really sure what it means, but Stan is a "textbook hippie man" who has gone against his hippie ways.
"If you really wanna see me, check the papers and the TV. Look who's telling who what to do. Yeah, kiss my ass... goodbye." Which song by Ben includes such a reproach? | Ben Folds Lyrics
|
One Angry Dwarf and 200 Solemn Faces. From "Whatever and Ever Amen" and "Ben Folds Live". A retaliation to bullies: "Vic, you stole my lunch money, made me cry. Jane, remember second grade? You said you couldn't stand my face. Rather than kiss me you said you'd rather die. Now I'm big and important. One angry dwarf and 200 solemn faces are you!"
Which song gives the following advice? "You worry there might not be anything at all inside, but that you're worried should tell you that's not right." | Ben Folds Lyrics
|
Jane. Another one from "The Unauthorized Biography of Reinhold Messner" and "Ben Folds Live". This is also one of my favorite Ben songs, which tells a friend to just be herself: "Jane, be Jane."
