| In 1978 the New York band Suicide played a gig in the AB in Brussels, Belgium. They were support act for a quite different sounding band and the crowd didn't react too good to Suicide's droning synth sounds. In fact, they rioted. Elvis Costello & the Attractions. Costello was very angry with the crowd and called them small-minded fools. He played a very short set. Suicide's tumultuous concert was preserved for future generations on the bootleg '23 Minutes over Brussels'. The cd re-release of their debut album included the concert as bonus material.

Bow Wow Wow. Bow Wow Wow's singer Annabella Lwin was only 15. McLaren discovered her working in a launderette. He put her naked on the cover of their debut album 'See Jungle! See Jungle! Go Join Your Gang, Yeah, City All Over! Go Ape Crazy!'. Her mum and the authorities were not pleased. Subsequently the cover of the album - a tribute to Manet's painting 'Déjeuner sur l'herbe' - was changed.
If you went to see them live on sundays their rasta faith prohibited them from playing hardcore and they would only play reggae.. They were also famous for their big dreadlocks. Handy for smuggling illicit substances.

the Germs. Belinda Carlisle used to be the drummer for the seminal LA punk outfit the Germs. Guitarist Pat Smear went on to play with Death Folk, Nirvana and the Foo Fighters. Singer Darby Crash (aka Bobby Pynn) died from a heroin overdose on December 7, 1980.
