3rd. With around 900 million followers, Hinduism is beaten only by Christianity and Islam in terms of number of followers. Almost all Hindus live in India.
Maya. Maya was the demon who was saved by Arjun. When Agni started devouring the forest of Khandavaprashtha, Arjun saved the life of Maya. Maya, in order to show his gratitude towards Arjun, built the palace at Khandavaprashtha for the Pandavas.
Indra. Indra killed Vritrasura and so he had to hide. Vritrasura was killed using the weapon made by his father. Indra had to hide himself for getting rid of killing a Brahamna. Vritrasura was the son of Tvashta.
Tvashta. Vritrasura was the younger son of Tvashta, born to avenge the death of his older brother (the pious demon Vishwarupa) at the hands of Indra.
Vishwakarma. Vishwakarma who is also known as shilpi of Gods was born in family of demons. His noble behaviour and nature made him a God. His son was a demon king who did many wrong things. Vishwakarma won favour of gods due to his superb qualities.
Praduymna. Birbahu and Bhadrasen were not the sons of Krishna and Maya was a demon. Praduymna was the eldest son of Krishna from Rukmini. Even Rukmini was not able to recognise Praduymna.
Chandra. Lord Rama had only one wife. Krishna had sixteen thousand but none were the daughter of Daksha. Chandra is one of the major characters of Hindu mythology. Chandra is associated both with Lord Rudra and Lord Ganesha. Chandra was also given a curse by Ganapati.
Arjun. Arjun was the son of Kunti and Pandu. As born in the spring time Arjun got the name of Phalgun. The name Phalgun was told to prince Uttar by Arjun himself to make him believe that he was Arjun.
Devadatta. Panchjanya was the name of conch of Madhusudana. Paundra was the name of conch of Bhima. Atirathi was the name of Nakul. Devadatta was the first conch to be sound just before the starting of Mahabharata. Devadatta was blown by Arjun to warn all warriors of his arrows as he was a great archer.
Nahusa. Lord Rama never took place of Indra. Kashyapa was a saint and Daksha was also not capable of taking place of Indra. Indra had to hide as he had killed a Brahamna. King Nahusa was chosen by gods to take place of Indra till he was hiding.

Kalki. Kalki, the magnificent horseman, is believed to be the tenth incarnation of Shri Vishnu. Although he has not yet been incarnated in this earth, it is believed he will show up around 500 years from now. Call it a superstition or a myth, but many people throughout the world believe this. Angad and Citraketu. Urmila was the daughter of Janak and she married Lakshman, the son of Dashrat and Sumitra. Years after Ravan was killed, when Sita was sent into exile, all four sisters (Sita, Urmila, Sutkirti and Mandavi) give birth to two sons each. Here's the list.
1) Ram and Sita became the parents of Luv and Kush.
2) Bharat and Mandavi became the parents of Daksh and Pushkar.
3) Lakshman and Urmila became the parents of Angad and Citraketu.
4) Satrughna and Sutkirti became the parents of Subahu and Sutushen.

Sukracharya. Sukracharya is the demons' teacher. He is a Shiv devotee but offended Vishnu. Long ago, Vishnu killed his mother with his disc as she refused to evict the demons that hid in her house; he wanted to kill them for the welfare of the earth. Vhrigu rishi cursed Vishnu, saying he would have to live 100 years without his wife, and that happened in the life of Ram (an incarnation of Vishnu). Sukracharya vowed to be Vishnu's enemy and take his revenge.

Sharda. Sharda is another name of Sarasvati. Sati and Uma are Parvati's other names and Shri is Lakshmi. These three goddess combined their powers together and merged into Devi Durga. Devi Durga then became Mahakali and killed Mahisasur, thus ending the misery of three worlds. She is also called Mahisasur Mardini - Killer of Mahisasur. Although Durga was granted the powers of all the gods, she is believed to be an incarnation of Lakshmi, Parvati and Saraswati.

Kamdev. This is a story of how Shiva defeated Kamdev or Kam (love and greediness) and was called Pashupati. Later, when Kamdev's consort Rati asked for forgiveness, Shiva told her that in Dwapar Yug Kamdev would be reborn as Pradyumna, Krishna's son. He would then kill a demon to be Kamdev again.

Brahma. Brahma is believed to have five heads. First, having only one head, he created a very beautiful lady called Shaptarupa or Savitri. She was so beautiful that he could not take his eyes off her. She, out of shyness, moved around so that Brahma could not see her. Brahma, being the creator, created four more heads so that he could see her wherever she went. He made another head in top of those four so he could see her when she moved up. Shiva later burned that head as he was offended by Brahma. Daksh is known as the human son of the god and his story is very famous too.
The first son of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. Ganesh is their first son and Muruga is their second. Lord Shiva cut his head off, thus Lord Ganesh has an elephant head. In temple ceremonies, Lord Ganesh is worshipped first.
Lava and Kusa. Lakshman and Bharat were his brothers. Lava and Kusa were born in an ashram. They did not know who their father was until they were twelve.
Kannaki . She burnt a city to prove herself. She did so because the king put her husband to death although he did not commit any crime.

Pandavas. The Mahabharata shows how brothers should be united. The five Pandava brothers were Dharman, Arjun, Bheem, Nakul and Sagadev.
Agni. Lord Brahma's eldest son is Agni, the spirit of fire. Through him, Hindu priests are able to make sacrifices and Agni acts as the messenger between the deities and humans.
