Justice. 'By me kings reign, and princes decree justice' (Prov. 8:15).
Law. Proverbs 7:2 - 'Keep my commandments, and {live;} and my law as the apple of thine eye.'
Death. A strange woman is strongly described as having lips that drop as an honeycomb, a mouth smoother than oil, an end more bitter than wormwood and sharp as a two-edged sword, feet that go down to death and steps that take hold on hell (Prov 5:3-5). Any questions?!
Evil ways. Proverbs 4:14-15 - 'Enter not into the path of the wicked, and go not in the way of evil men. Avoid it, pass not by it, turn from it, and pass away.'

open rebuke. Proverbs 27:5 "Open rebuke is better than secret love."
If a person secretly loves someone, that other person would not know, so what good is that love. However, if a person openly rebukes a person, the other person would know just how they feel.

when they are still young. Proverbs 22:6 "Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it."
Most life skills that we have we learn as children, so this verse would make sense.
sleep. Proverbs 20:13 "Love not sleep, lest thou come to poverty; open thine eyes, and thou shalt be satisfied with bread."
This verse is another warning. It warns us not to be lazy.
Proverbs 17:22. Proverbs 17:22 "A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones."
Poverty and shame. Proverbs 13:18 "Poverty and shame shall be to him that refuseth instruction: but he that regardeth reproof shall be honoured."
This Bible verse is a warning to everyone.
love. Proverbs 10:12 "Hatred stirreth up strifes: but love covereth all sins."
Later on, in the New Testament when Jesus gives His life for our sins this same theme is shown again. His love, covers our sins when we choose to believe in Him. This verse in Proverbs therefore may be seen as a prophetic verse.
a wise son. Proverbs 10:1 "The proverbs of Solomon. A wise son maketh a glad father: but a foolish son is the heaviness of his mother."
Solomon must have made David very glad because Solomon is considered one of the wisest men in the Bible.
righteousness. Proverbs 8:20 "I lead in the way of righteousness, in the midst of the paths of judgment."
Solomon was considered a very righteous man, that is he lived his life according to the Law.
all diligence. Proverbs 4:23 "Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life."
Diligence is another word for caution, so the Bible says we should be careful with our heart. That is, we should not react on emotions alone.
In the King James Version, Proverbs 22:6 says, "Train up [someone] in the way he should go and when he is old, he will not depart from it." Who is the someone being referred to? | Pronouns and Proverbs
|
a child. This verse says that if you raise your child with respect for rules, as an adult your child will also have respect. A child's first impressions are that of his/her parents so it is very important that the parent guides that child at a very young age.
In the King James Version, Proverbs 20:1 says, "[It] is a mocker, strong drink is raging; and whosoever deceived thereby is not wise." What does "it" refer to? | Pronouns and Proverbs
|
Wine. This verse holds true for anybody. We know from studies that alcohol, even wine, affects a person's actions and words. In substance abuse rehab alcohol is often referred to as "liquid courage" because so many people seem braver after they have had a few drinks.
In the King James Version, Proverbs 18:21 says "[This] and [that] are in the power of the tongue; and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof." What are this and that? | Pronouns and Proverbs
|
Death and life. This verse does not literally mean that you can kill a person by talking to them. However it does mean that our words are very powerful. It says in James 3:8, "But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison."
In the King James Version, Proverbs 11:4 says, "[They] profit not in the day of wrath but righteousness delivereth from death." What are "they"? | Pronouns and Proverbs
|
Riches. Someone can have all the money in the world and it does not make them any less guilty of being a sinner. However, Christians believe that the one Man who was truly righteous can save sinners from death (and by death they mean separation from God for eternity). Having money does not make someone perfect.
In the King James Version, Proverbs 10:12 says, "[This] stirreth up strife; but love covereth all sins." What does "this" refer to? | Pronouns and Proverbs
|
Hatred. This verse reminds me of the New Testament when Jesus says He died for our sins because He loved us. Christians believe that His blood was enough to cover everyone's sins who believe in Him.
This verse talks about how when people hate someone all they can see is a person's bad points, but when they love someone they can see beyond a person's flaws.
In the King James Version, Proverbs 9:13 says, "A foolish woman is clamorous; she is simple and knoweth [this]". What does she know? | Pronouns and Proverbs
|
Nothing. Clamorous means "constantly seeking attention" (www.dictionary.com). This is in contrast with a woman who goes about her business because it's what she has to do, not because she wants attention for doing it. It is never good to be boastful and proud, rather one should do the right thing and let others boast for them.
In the King James Version, Proverbs 8:7 says "For my mouth shall speak [it] and wickedness is an abomination to my lips." What does it refer to? | Pronouns and Proverbs

In the King James Version, Proverbs 6:20 says, "My son, keep thy father's commandment, and forsake not the law of [her]". Who does the "her" refer to? | Pronouns and Proverbs
|
thy mother. God must think obeying parents is very important as it is mentioned in several different books in the Bible. It is, in fact, one of the Ten Commandments found in Exodus.
In the King James Version, Proverbs 2:6 says, "For the Lord giveth [it]: out of his mouth comes knowledge and understanding. What word(s) replaces it? | Pronouns and Proverbs
|
wisdom. Solomon is often credited with writing the book of Proverbs. He is known as the wisest man in the Bible. Solomon was King David's son.
In the King James Version, Proverbs 1:7 says, "The fear of [Him] is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction". What word(s) should replace Him? | Pronouns and Proverbs
|
The Lord. "Fear" in this proverb does not mean to be scared of. It means fear as in reverence, that is, respect of the Lord. The root of the word "to fear" in Latin is the same as respect.
