Graeme Hick. Sri Lanka set England the task of scoring 205 to win the match. Stewart and Hussain put on 50 for the first wicket, before Hussein was dismissed for 14. Stewart went on to score 88, supported by Hick scoring 73. In the Sri Lankan innings Stewart had taken three catches, so he deserved the Man of the Match award for this memorable game.

Sri Lanka. Stewart scored 113* in the only test against Sri Lanka in August 1991. He batted for 308 minutes, until he ran out of partners, and England reached the total of 282 all out. They won the test by 137 runs. Stewart was the second English player to score a century against Sri Lanka in a test match. The first was Allan Lamb.
