Anil Kumble
Royal Challengers Bangalore. He was the home boy along with Rahul Dravid on this team. He later played cricket in the Indian Premier League. Though Anil Kumble is now retired, this legend will remain in our hearts.
November 2008. On November 2, 2008, at the Feroz Shah Kotla in Delhi, Kumble was playing in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia. When the match ended in a draw, Kumble was found unfit for the 4th and final Test. As a result of this, on the final day of that match, he decided to retire. His final test ball was hit by Matthew Hayden for four. His last test innings figures were 4-0-14-0. He took 337 ODI wickets and 619 test wickets.
2007. After the ICC Cricket World Cup 2007, Kumble announced his ODI retirement. His last ODI was against Bermuda, on March 19, 2007.
2006. On March 11, 2006, Anil Kumble fetched his 500th test wicket and beat Courtney Walsh too (Walsh had gotten 520 test wickets). He picked up 619 wickets throughout his career.
He took 10 wickets in a single innings (i.e. 10-74). It is said when Kumble got 9 wickets in that innings when Pakistan were chasing a target of 420, his teammate Javagal Srinath tried not to pick any wicket because he wanted Kumble to get 10 wickets. Luck favoured Anil Kumble and he picked 10 wickets. After that, The Feroz Shah Kotla Ground in Delhi became Kumble's favorite.
He took his best ODI bowling figures (i.e. 6/12). On November 27, 1993, Anil Kumble took his best ODI bowling figures against West Indies at Calcutta (later Kolkata).
10. He played only 10 tests when he got his 50th test wicket. This made him the fastest Indian test bowler to achieve 50 wickets.
Sri Lanka. In 1990, he also made his ODI debut against Sri Lanka at Sharjah in the Australasia Cup.
England. He began his first test match on August 9, 1990, against England.
Bangalore (later Bengaluru). Anil Kumble was born on October 17, 1970. He had a great career in front of him.
