Carlisle United
1903. The club also moved into Brunton Park five years later in 1908.
H Kirkbride. Kirkbride was installed as manager between 1904-05, until McCumiskey took over for one season. Houston took his first spell as manager in 1906-08, and the second between 1910-12. Graham was manager between 1912-13.
Peter Beardsley . Beardsley signed for Carlisle from Wallsend Boys Club in 1979, and played for Carlisle until 1982, where he transferred to Vancouver Whitecaps for 5 months, until Manchester United stepped in to sign him. He only made one appearance for United, and moved back to Vancouver for a further 5 months in 1983, until Newcastle United signed him. Beardsley played four years at St. James Park, and was sold to Liverpool in 1987, where he played until moving across the Mersey to Everton in 1991. He had a further spell at Newcastle between 1993-97 followed by short spells at Bolton, Manchester City, Fulham and Hartlepool, before bringing down the curtain on his career with Doncaster in 1999.
1928. They played their first season in the Football League in season 1928-29, and finished 8th out of 22, with 46 points from 42 games.
1964-65. Carlisle won the Division Three title by a single point, over second placed Bristol City in the 1964-65 season. A year earlier, they finished second in the fourth division, making this the second consecutive season they were promoted.
