Le Mans. The first ever Grand Prix was held on a very long track at Le Mans (let's just say twice to three times as long as the 24hour track now).
Ferenc Szisz. Szisz, in a 90hp Renault, won the race over 2 days for a patriotic win for the French concern. He was a riding mechanic before stepping behind the wheel.
FIAT. Felice Nazzaro won the 1907 French GP at Dieppe over 10 laps (consider though these were laps of perhaps 50 km each)
Brooklands. Brooklands was the first purpose built circuit ever in the world, although it would never be visited by mainstream Grand Prix events. Indianapolis was not built until 1909.
Hit a dog. Yes, hitting a dog put the 1 tonne plus monster out of the running. It allowed the Peugeot of Boillot to take the lead and win.
Ernest Henry. Henry is considered by many historians as a revolutionary of grand prix design as his designs, although lighter and smaller, were far more powerful than the single camshaft engines of the FIAT.
Georges Boillot. Boillot won the 1912 and 1913 Grand Prix in his Peugeot. Lautenshlager was also a two-time winner but in 1908 and 1914.
