Illinois Fighting Illini
Nick Anderson. Nick hit that shot the year that Illinois went to the final four. Unfortunately they lost to Michigan in the final four.
The Flying Illini. Their ability to slam in 360's, windmills, and other great dunks, earned them this name.
Elite Eight. Led by Sergio Mcclain, Cory Bradford, Marcus Griffin, and a few more the illini were able to make the Elite Eight.
Lon Kruger. After the disaster with Illinois, Lon became coach of the NBA's Atlanta Hawks.
t. Illinois almost made it in 1989 but fell short. In the 1990s, Illinois has had some great teams, and they won the Big Ten in 1998.

The Sporting News. Dee Brown had an amazing year and finished third for the John Wooden Award. Coach Bruce Weber won the Naismith Coach of the year award, and the Henry Iba award for Coach of the year. Dee Brown was also the Big Ten player and Defensive Player of the Year.
7.7 and Dee Brown. Dee Brown led the Illini in many categories and was the Illini's spark plug. He was known as, "The one man Fast Break".
