Memphis. Memphis defeated North Texas 27-17 in the New Orleans Bowl. The New Orleans Bowl was played in the Superdome.
Michigan State. Nebraska beat Michigan State 17-3 in the Alamo Bowl. The Alamo Bowl was played on December 29, 2003 in the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.
Washington State. #15 Washington State won the Holiday Bowl 28-20. The Holiday Bowl was played on Decemer 30, 2003, at Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego, California.
El Paso, Texas. The Sun Bowl was played in El Paso. The Holiday Bowl is played in San Diego, the Outback Bowl is played in Tampa and the Tangerine Bowl and the Capital One Bowls are played in Orlando.
Independence Bowl. The Independence Bowl was played in Independence Stadium in Shreveport, Louisiana. Arkansas beat Missouri 27-14.
USC. #1 ranked USC beat Michigan 28-14 in the Rose Bowl. Miami beat FSU later that evening in the Orange Bowl.
LSU. LSU beat Oklahoma 21-14 in the Sugar Bowl, but because of the problems with the BCS, LSU still had to share National Champion status with USC who won the AP Poll with 48 out of the 65 first place votes.
Maryland. Schools from the modern-day Atlantic Coast Conference won five All-American Bowls during its run from 1977 to 1990. Maryland won the very first game. Georgia Tech (1985), Florida State (1986), Virginia (1987), and NC State (1990) were the other schools to win. West Virginia won the 1983 contest. Minnesota's only appearance was in 1977. Iowa never made an appearance. This game was typically played in late December, and was played on New Year's Eve four times.
3. Texas compiled a 3-2-1 record in the Bluebonnet Bowl, which was played at both Rice Stadium and the Astrodome in Houston during its lengthy run. Their first appearance, in 1960, ended in a 3-3 tie against Alabama. Their wins were against Ole Miss (1966), Colorado (1975) and Pittsburgh (1987, the final Bluebonnet Bowl played). Losses occurred against North Carolina (1980) and Air Force (1985). The Bluebonnet Bowl was discontinued due to poor ticket sales.

San Jose State. Drake won the first Raisin Bowl in 1946, beating Fresno State 13-12. San Jose State would record wins over Utah State and Texas Tech in becoming the most successful team in the bowl's brief history.

Army. The Pontiac Silverdome, former home of both the Detroit Lions and the Detroit Pistons, was the site of both Cherry Bowl contests. Maryland would defeat Syracuse in the second, and final, Cherry Bowl in 1985.
Anaheim, California. Running from 1984 to 1994, the Freedom Bowl was played at Anaheim Stadium (now Edison Field) in Anaheim, California. Iowa won the first game in 1984, and Utah won the closing game in 1994. Washington won a pair of Freedom Bowls (1985 and 1989). No one lost by shutout, though Florida is the only team to record a single-digit score (7 points, in its loss to Washington in 1989). The Gators were also the only team from east of the Mississippi River to play in the game.
