Illinois. As offensive as some people find Gophers, Hoosiers and Buckeyes, Illinois' Chief Illinwek has been found in violation of the NCAA's rule against offensive Native American nicknames. In 2007, the school was still in legal proceedings against the NCAA on the matter.

Cardinals. Their most famous alum is David Letterman.
Crimson Tide. One of the Super Bowl's most famous QBs, and the man without whom the NFL as we know it would not exist (had the AFLs Jets been blown out by the NFLs Colts, the leagues would probably not have merged), went to the University of Alabama.

0. No ACC team uses a rodent as its mascot. There are four "humans" (Duke, Florida State, Virginia, and Wake Forest), a bird (Boston College), a disaster (Miami), an insect (Georgia Tech), a cat (Clemson), a reptile (Maryland), and a wolf pack (NC State).
Iowa. All the other possible answers come from movies. Michigan Wolverines (from "Red Dawn"), Michigan State Spartans (from "Meet the Spartans" and "300"), and Northwestern Wildcats (from "Wildcats"). They are the Iowa Hawkeyes.

UC-Santa Cruz. When the school began its athletic program, the chancellor dubbed the teams the "Sea Lions". Students and athletes hated the name and voted to use Banana Slugs, although there is still a sea lion statue in front of the school's arena, and a sea lion is painted on the basketball court.
