Zombie Apocalypse. The game takes place two weeks after the first infection is spotted in a human. Within these two weeks, a great portion of the population of the world has been infected. It is your objective to stay alive and find a means of rescue to a safe location.

Louis, Francis, Zoey, Bill. All of the survivor characters have their own unique background story. However, they all play exactly the same, and have no advantages over one another. They are mainly different due to fact that quick communication is needed in this game, and it is easier to yell out the character name rather than remembering the different gamertags of other players.

Hunter. Hunters are the kind of zombie who are quick and agile. Once they pounce onto a survivor, the survivor is rendered helpless until a teammate either hits the hunter with a melee attack, or shoots the hunter off of them.

Boomer. Boomers are big, slow, and very weak to gunfire. At a distance, they do not pose much of a threat, but if they ambush and vomit on a survivor, the bile will attract a horde of zombies to attack that survivor. Even if you see the boomer before it can vomit on the survivor, it can still explode when shot and will cover all nearby survivors with bile.

Smoker. Smokers move at about the same pace as the survivors do. The real advantage that they have is that they can attack from long distances with their tongues by wrapping it around an unsuspecting survivor and then constricting it. The smoker then pulls the victim closer to it so it can separate the survivor from the others while pulling it closer for close range attacks from regular zombies. The only way to escape from the smoker is to have a teammate melee you, or to kill the smoker itself.

Yes. "Left 4 Dead" incorporates an online versus mode, where people can control the hunter, smoker, boomer, and occasionally, the tank. This mode is for people who have mastered the game on campaign and are looking for a tougher challenge.

No Mercy. In this campaign, the survivors start out on top of an apartment complex. As they are standing, they see a helicopter going by, directing to proceed directly to Mercy Hospital for evacuation. The group decides that the subway would be the quickest route there. After traveling through the subway, the group must go through to the top of the hospital and call for evac. while they wait for it they must defend themselves from many attacking zombies.

Tank. The Tank is one of the most powerful enemies in the game. It has loads of health and can incapacitate a survivor with a single blow on expert. It can also throw a huge chuck of rock at survivors who are at a distance in order to slow them down.

Blood Harvest. If you look closely at the beginning of Blood Harvest, you will see a sign for the Allegheny National Forest, which is located in Pennsylvania. This campaign is particularly scary because the zombie can rush you from the woods and catch you by surprise. The smokers can also pull you into the woods, where it is difficult for your teammates to find you and see what they are doing.

Blood Harvest & No Mercy. All four of these names are campaigns of the game, but only Blood Harvest and No Mercy were the only versus mode compatible ones at the games release. Since then, Valve has release a patch allowing all four campaigns to be playable in versus mode. All four them are also playable in co-op multiplayer.

Sub-machine Gun. The sub-machine gun is always available at the beginning of every campaign. It is good for picking off the zombies as they get closer to you, until you find other weapons to attack with.

Shotgun. The shotgun is an exceptional choice for the levels that take place inside. It is also available for use at the beginning of every level.

Pistol. The pistol is generally used only when you are reloading the primary weapon or when you have been knocked down by the zombies. You always spawn with the pistol at the beginning of every level, and there is a capability of using a second pistol with the first one.

Assualt Rifle. The Assault Rifle is one of the second tier weapons. It can be found at many points during almost any level. The Assault Rifle is especially useful for mowing down a horde of zombies as they are charging you.

Auto-Shotgun. The auto-shotgun is a very useful weapon when you are in closed in areas. Like the Assault rifle, it can be found at many different areas during any level. The auto-shotguns firing rate depends on how fast you can pull the trigger.

Hunting Rifle. The hunting rifle is basically like a sniper rifle. It can also only be found in many different places throughout the level. The Hunting Rifle is unique, in that it has a scope for extra long range shots.

Pipe Bomb. The pipe bomb is an explosive device that can found at many different places throughout the levels. It is especially useful after you have been vomited on by a Boomer or you have just encountered a large horde of zombies.

Molotov. The molotov is a weapon that is extremely useful when you are being confronted by many zombies. You can throw the molotov to block the zombies ability to get to you. Another thing the molotov is useful for is for throwing on tanks, which will cause them to be set aflame and to constantly lower its seemingly endless health. It, like the pipe bomb, can be found in many different locations.

Hunting Rifle. The hunting rifle requires you to be standing still in order to be accurate with your shots. In this case, you will be rushed at by zombies, so you will most likely be running and shooting, thus making any weapon other than the hunting rifle a better option. Thanks for playing my quiz!
Lower jaw. The Tank zombies are the largest enemies in the game. You encounter them every now and again. They were mutated during infection and now have huge arms.
Echo. You find your way to a house in a farm. There you answer a radio and summon a rescue. Then, a large horde comes while you wait for the evac, which is a military tank.
Zoey. Zoey yells "run like Hell" because they just disturbed a Witch. Louis kills it by shooting through the door. It would have been disturbed earlier by Zoey's flashlight if it wasn't for Bill.
Mercy Hospital. In the beginning of the level the evac chopper says "If anyone can hear this, report to Mercy Hospital for evac." Unfortunately, you have to get to the top of the hospital for evac.
Tongue. Smokers grab you with their extremely long tongue. You have to be saved from it to not die. Bill is attacked by one in the introduction.
Hunter. Hunters wear dark hoodies with the hood up. They emit a blood curdling scream when near. When you get attacked by one you have to be saved to not die. Louis is attacked by one in the introduction.
Stomach. The Boomers are fat zombies who vomit on you. When you are vomited on, the horde comes. If you are close to one when you kill it it also vomits on you.
Claws. The Witch is the strongest enemy in the game. One hit incapacitates you. You must disturb it to get it to attack you. All they want is to be left alone to cry.
Apartment. As you search for weapons and equipment, one of the survivors will mention that the subway leads straight to the hospital. The helicopter is telling all survivors to reach Mercy Hospital for evacuation. There are two ways into the apartment building, the door to the staircase or jumping through one of the skylights.

A car. The reason the survivors will want to avoid the car is that there is an alarm set on the vehicle. If activated, it will make hoards of zombies rush toward the sound, thus finding the survivors and attacking them.

No. Actually, as the survivors climb a set of stairs out of the gate area, there is a subway train that has derailed in this section of the subway. This makes for another barrier in what would have been an open area, allowing for more safe spots for the special zombies.

A mechanical door. As you exit into the turbine room, the survivors realize that the turbines must be activated in order to continue onwards. This would obviously guide hoards of zombie toward your location, so there is a convienient supply station nearby. It's even equipped with a mounted machine gun!
