    Franz Ferdinand - "Take Me Out". Despite a record winning margin only five years earlier, Franz Ferdinand only just managed to make the list. They edged out Nirvana, who made number 101 with "Heart-Shaped Box". Coldplay - "Yellow" made number 87. Smashing Pumpkins - "Today" made number 78. Pulp - "Common People" made number 81.

The oldest song in the countdown was released in 1965. Which song was it?
    Bob Dylan - "Like a Rolling Stone". "Like a Rolling Stone" made number 55 and was one of eight songs from the 1960s to make the list. This is despite the fact that the song hadn't previously made the Hottest 100.

The newest song in the countdown was released in 2008. Which song was it?
    Kings of Leon - "Sex on Fire". "Sex on Fire" was one of two songs from 2008 to make the list, making number 90. The other was "Skinny Love" by Bon Iver, which was released earlier in 2008. "Sex on Fire" made number one in the previous year's countdown.

Which band managed four entries in the countdown, with three in the top 20?
    Radiohead. Radiohead made the top 30 with "Fake Plastic Trees", "Karma Police", "Creep", and "Paranoid Android" making 28, 15, 13, and five respectively. All three of these songs had previously made the top ten in their year of release. Jeff Buckley also had four entries with two in the top ten.

In addition to their three entries, which member of The Beatles had an entry of their own in the countdown?
    John Lennon. Together, The Beatles made it into the countdown with "Come Together", "Hey Jude", and "A Day in the Life" at numbers 86, 44, and 24. John Lennon trumped all three of these when he made number 11 with "Imagine".

    Five. His involvement in multiple bands aided multiple entries. He had three entries with Nirvana, one with the Foo Fighters, and one with Queens of the Stone Age, which he performed drums on.

Which 1997 song finished in the same place as it had in the 1998 Hottest 100 of All Time?
    Tool - "Forty-Six & 2". "Forty-Six & 2" finished at number 57 for the second time in a row. It was the first of two Tool songs in the countdown, as they also featured with "Stinkfist" at number 37. The other three songs featured in both countdowns, moving up and down from their original positions.

Whose cover of a Nine Inch Nails song ended up two places ahead of another Nine Inch Nails song?
    Johnny Cash. Johnny Cash's rendition of "Hurt" made number 60, while Nine Inch Nails made number 62 with "Closer". Jimi Hendrix's cover of Bob Dylan's "All Along the Watchtower" finished 25 places above Bob Dylan's only entry. Jeff Buckley had the highest placed cover in the countdown, with his version of Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah" making number three.
