    Essendon. This incidentally was the Bombers only win until round 17, and they finished second bottom for the year. This was their longest losing streak under the reign of coach Kevin Sheedy since 1981.

    16th. Second wooden spoon on the trot for the blue boys, but only their third in the history of the club. However, as wooden spooners, they get first draft pick for the following season.

Which two old rivals come head to head for the traditional ANZAC day clash each year?
    Essendon and Collingwood. These two have played each other every anzac day since 1995. It is played at the MCG in Melbourne and is usually a sell out. This game pulls one of the biggest crowds of the year, beaten only by the Grand Final.

What was the margin of the South Australian Showdown between Adelaide and Port Adelaide in Round 6, and who won?
    50 points, Adelaide. Adelaide won on both occasions that these two teams met in this season. They also defeated Port Adelaide during the semi-finals of 2005, by a whopping margin of 83 points.

In Round 10, the Adelaide Crows played against the Essendon Bombers. What was the final margin?
    138 points. This was a great way for Crows player Andrew McLeod, number 23, to celebrate his 300th game. Coincidentally, the margin was 23 goals to match his guernsey number!

Against who did the West Coast Eagles record their first defeat of the 2006 season?
    Fremantle. West Coast only lost 5 games in this home and away season, and went on to become the premiers for 2006.

Which two teams drew in round 16, and what was the score?
    Essendon and Carlton, 105. These traditional rivals were fighting to stay out of bottom place, but to no avail. Eventually, it was Carlton who placed in 16th place, remaining there for the rest of the year.

To whom did Adelaide lose the preliminary final to?
    West Coast. Adelaide also lost the 2005 preliminary final to West Coast, who have become somewhat of a rival for the Crows. Many supporters will agree about some undesirable umpiring in the final minutes of the 2006 clash which may have cost them the game. West Coast won their spot in the Grand Final from this game, and went on to win the premiership by one point.

Adam Goodes won the Brownlow medal in 2006.
    T. This was the second time he won the prestigious award, one of only 12 footballers to do so at the time. His team, the Sydney Swans, were runners up in the Grand Final so it was a successful year for Goodes.

Who was the AFL NAB rising star for 2006?
    Danyle Pearce. He is a very talented, fast moving player. He played for Port Adelaide Power.
