Let's start off with an easy one: This man was shot in a booth, by a Booth.

    Abraham Lincoln & Lincoln. Our 16th president was shot in the balcony of Ford's Theater in Washington, D.C. (my hometown), by John Wilkes Booth.

This man, once a Secretary of State, escaped an assassination attempt by Lewis Powell, an accomplice of John W. Booth.
    William Seward & Seward. Powell's assassination attempt was made in the same year that Abraham Lincoln was shot - 1865.

Franklin D. Roosevelt escaped an assassination attempt in 1933 in this Florida city.
    Miami. Franklin D. Roosevelt was our President from 1933-1945, for most of the Great Depression and World War II.

This man shot James Garfield in Washington, D.C. because he favored civil service, instead of the merit system.
    Charles Guiteau & Guiteau. Garfield was shot because he wanted people to be worthy of government jobs, not just appointed from favors. His Vice-President, Charles Arthur, was an opponent of the merit system (in which some government jobs require tests to prove *merit*) , but due to the president's untimely death, he passed the Pendleton Act instating the Civil Service program. (Civil Service= Merit System)

This man, who was US president during the Spanish-American War, was shot in Buffalo by Leon Czolgosz. Who was it?
    William McKinley&McKinley.

Robert F. Kennedy was killed five years after his brother by this man, in Los Angeles.
    Sirhan Sirhan & Sirhan. Robert Kennedy wanted to make the same changes that his brother would have brought about, and was running for president when he was shot.

In what year was Olof Palme, the Swedish Prime Minister, shot while walking home?
    1986.

The assassination of this man sparked World War I.
    Archduke Francis Ferdinand & Archduke Ferdinand &Franz Ferdinand & Archduke Franz Ferdinand & Ferdinand. Archduke Ferdinand was shot by the Serbian nationalist and terrorist, Gavrilo Princip, in Sarajevo.

We have all been told that Lee Harvey Oswald assassinated President John F. Kennedy (and most of us told otherwise also). Name this man, who was responsible for Oswald's death.
    Jack Ruby & Ruby. Ruby shot Oswald before he went to trial for Kennedy's death, which a strange and noted fact, especially important to those who think Oswald had nothing to do with JFK's death. Ruby was also suspected to have been in the mob.

This man shot Ronald Reagan in 1981 in the left lung in Washington, D.C. Who was it?
    John Hinckley Jr. & John Hinckley & Hinckley & John Hinckley, Jr. & John Hinckley, Jr & John Hinckley Jr. Reagan was the first president to survive being elected in a zero year. The "zero effect," or dying while in office if elected in a year ending with "0" (eg: 1860 (Lincoln), 1880 (Garfield), and 1960 (Kennedy)), began with William Henry Harrison, who killed the Indian chief Tecumseh and had a curse put upon him. Harrison died after only one month in office.
