    Maryborough. Maryborough was officially proclaimed a port in 1859, and is 30km upstream from the mouth of the Mary River, where the town of River Heads sits. Maryborough was discovered in 1842 and is a subtropical city just over 30km south of Hervey Bay with some magnificently renovated old 'Queenslanders' - a typical Queensland house!

Northern Queensland: 'beautiful one day, perfect the next', is this tropical paradise. Trips to one of Australia's most popular islands leave from here daily. What is the name of this beachside town that bears a memorial cairn to the explorer Edmund Kennedy?

    Marble Bar. The Australian Bureau of Statistics lists Marble Bar as the hottest place in Australia with an average temperature of 41°C for several weeks during summer!

South Australia: this town lies on the South Eastern Freeway. With an historic mill, which closed in 1894, what is the name of this town?
    Mount Barker. Mount Barker was originally mapped and named by Captain Charles Sturt in 1831. A flour mill was built in 1844, the first steam flour mill outside Adelaide which operated for fifty years. A Post Office was built in 1860, a Police Station in 1878, and the railway in 1883. Mount Morgan, According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics, has a population with an average age of 43 years, with an average weekly income of up to AUD$300 per person and a household size of 2.3 persons!

    Mount Buller. Situated in the Alpine National Park, it is located just over 230km north-east of Melbourne and is a picturesque, mountainous snowfield!

    Mount Kosciuszko. Mount Kosciuszko, at 2,228m high, is Australia's highest mountain and is located in Kosciuszko National Park, which is the largest National Park in New South Wales!

We're in New South Wales in the beautiful Hunter Valley. What is the name of this coal-mining town, just over 250km from Sydney?
    Muswellbrook. Muswellbrook was declared in 1870 and coal-mining began in 1890. There are more than eight mines that operate in the area with seven that are open-cut.

NSW: what is the name of this northern town, literally the turn-off point to the Tweed Coast?
    Mooball. Backing onto Mooball National Park, is Mooball, and I just love the name of this town! It is located on the Pacific Highway and is the turn off point to the towns and beaches of the Tweed Coast in subtropical New South Wales!

This site in Queensland is famous for its dinosaurs! What is the name of this town?
    Muttaburra. In the central west of Queensland is the small town of Muttaburra, where one of Australia's largest dinosaur skeletons was found, the Muttaburrasaurus! It was also home to Captain Starlight, an infamous bushranger remembered in the Australian novel, Robbery Under Arms.
