Special Sub-Topic: Basic Radio Stuff
|What frequency range is the High Frequency band?|
3 to 30 MHz. The HF band is based on frequencies 3 to 30 Mhz. AM radio stations are in the HF band but normally are stated in kilohertz.
|Is the length of an antenna is based on the frequency range it is used for?
(For example the lower the frequency the longer or shorter the antenna.)|
y. Antennas are built to a certain length depending on the frequency, due to the wavelength of the radio waves.
|What does AM mean?|
amplitude modulation. Amplitude modulation was the first type to be used in radio. It works well with HF and morse code.
|Do radio waves travel at the speed of light? |
y. Radio waves alway travel at the speed of light, but sound is much slower.
|What type of waves does television usually use?|
ultra high frequency (UHF). Satellites also use the same wave length.
