Fun Trivia: B : Bible for Kids

Special Sub-Topic: Bible Ladies

Who was the first lady?

Eve. Eve was created by God because he could see that Adam needed a friend and wife.

Ruth was a special lady who stayed with her mother-in-law, going to a strange country. She was to marry a man called Boaz, and have a son. Many years later her great-grandson was to be King of Israel - what was his name?
David. David was the second King (Saul was the first), and Solomon was his son who became King after him. Jonathan was David's best friend, and King Saul's son. Peter was the name Jesus gave to one of his friends, Simon.

Mary and Martha were sisters who are mentioned a few times in the Gospels. Do you know what their brother was called? (You might like to look this one up in John chapter 12)
Lazarus. I always liked reading about Martha and Mary because they argued just like my sister and I did when we were growing up!

What was the name of the maid who opened the door to Peter when they were praying for his release from prison? (this story can be found in Acts chapter 12)
Rhoda. They were at Mary's house (this was Mark's Mum) praying for Peter to be set free, and when he came to the door Rhoda could not believe what she saw!

King Xerxes held a Beauty Contest to find a new Queen - do you know who won it? (This lady has a book named for her.)
Esther. This is a great story, and as I said, there is a book called 'Esther' in the Bible where you will find it to read. The Jews tell this story every year when they celebrate a holiday called 'Purim', and when they do they boo the baddie, Haman!

Because she was very old, she laughed when Angels told her she would have a baby. Do you know her name?
Sarah. Sarah was married to Abraham, and they called their baby Isaac. The story can be found in Genesis.

This lady was Solomon's Mum.
Bathsheba. King David had lots of wives and lots of sons, but it was Solomon who became King after him; his Mum was Bathsheba, who was married to a man called Uriah before she married King David.

Speaking of Mums - do you know the name of Hannah's son? He was a special boy who heard God talking to him in the middle of the night and when he grew up he was a strong Man of God who had two Bible books named after him.
Samuel. The two books tell the story of the first couple of Kings, Saul and David. Samuel was an important man in Israel because God spoke to him, and he made both these men Kings.

What was the name of Moses' big sister? (You might like to look this up in Exodus chapter 15 - she was also Aaron's sister.)
Miriam. Although it doesn't say so in the Bible, a lot of people think that Miriam was the girl who watched Moses as he floated down the river in his basket, just to make sure he would be safe until the Princess found him. We only know the one name and it is possible that Moses had more than one sister.

Who was the mother of Jesus?
Mary. We hear this story every year, because Christians celebrate Jesus' Birthday every Christmas. Christmas Carols tell the story.
