Safed - This is the colour of the Taj Mahal, one of the Seven Wonders of the World, located in Agra, India.

    White. Safed means white in Hindi. The Taj Mahal was built by Emperor Shahjahan as a mausoleum for his wife, Mumtaz.

Kesari - This colour is a part of the Indian tri-colour.
    Saffron. Kesari means saffron in Hindi. Saffron, white and green are the colours of the Indian tri-colour.

Lal - This is the colour of the last fort built by Emperor Shahjahan in Delhi.
    Red. Lal means red in Hindi. The Red Fort built by Shahjahan in 1647 is an important tourist attraction.

Neela - This is the colour of the waters of the Indian Ocean which lies to the south of India.
    Blue. Neela means blue in Hindi. Blue is also the colour of the chakra in the centre of the Indian flag.

Hara - This colour is associated with the agricultural revolution that took place in India between the years 1967-1979.
    Green. Hara means green in Hindi. The Green Revolution was implemented in the states of Punjab and Haryana in North India by employing methods like double cropping, expansion of farmlands and using seeds with improved genetics.

Narangi - This colour is also the name of a fruit.
    Orange. Narangi means orange in Hindi. In addition, like English, an orange is also called narangi in Hindi.

Kala - This is the colour of the tomb Emperor Shahjahan wished to build for himself adjacent to the Taj Mahal.
    Black. Kala means black in Hindi. Shahjahan was placed under house arrest by his son, Aurangzeb, in his old age and died without fulfilling this desire.

Peela - This is the colour of the mustard fields of Punjab.
    Yellow. Peela means yellow in Hindi. The scenic mustard fields of Punjab are a popular locale for the filming of songs in Bollywood movies.

Gulabi - The buildings of Jaipur city were painted this colour in 1876 for the visit of the Prince of Wales.
    Pink. Gulabi means pink in Hindi. Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan, is popularly known as the Pink City.

Sunhera - This colour is associated with the Sikh Temple in Amritsar where the infamous Operation Bluestar took place.
    Golden. Sunhera means golden in Hindi. During Operation Bluestar, the then Prime Minister of India, Indira Gandhi, ordered the army to enter the sacred Golden Temple of the Sikhs to capture the terrorists hiding there. This violation of their sacred temple angered the Sikh community leading to the assassination of Mrs. Gandhi by her own Sikh bodyguards.
