    Madame Clarice. The gang tries to fix up her garden. She is a family friend to the Beards and whilst most of the gang thinks she is a phony, most if not all of her predictions come true.

Who was Selwyn Beard?
    Deceased Raven Hill painter who was ostracised while alive. Selwyn Beard is the now deceased prolific painter who was accused of being a rat-bag. His artwork was never considered important when he was alive.

"At Raven Hill Fair" is the name of the painting Teen Power Inc. wants for the fair.
    t. "At Raven Hill Fair" is the famous painting that Selwyn Beard painted which is what the gang want, to revitalise the fair and draw in the crowds from the city.

Mary Beard goes under what other name?
    Miss Belvedere. Belvedere is the name of the street in which she lives; she goes under that name to protect her privacy. de Vere was the surname of the painter who steals the painting.

Did Selwyn Beard have a beard?
    The book doesn't say.. It is never mentioned that Selwyn had a beard.

The thief stole Percy as a distraction. What sort of bird is Percy?
    Parrot. Percy is completely bald with the exception of a few feathers on the top of his head. He wears a little jumper to stay warm.

How is Percy returned by the kidnapper?
    He is thrown into the window of the Pen office wrapped up.. When Percy is thrown in, the gang think it's a bomb and shelter off all areas and stop traffic, only to foolishly discover it was a bald bird.

What is the special talent Percy has which helps identify the kidnapper?
    If he has seen someone before he will say "Hello" to them. Percy sees the kidnapper at the fair and helps the gang catch the thief by screeching "Hello" to him.

Who wins the old-time fancy-dress competition?
    Liz Free. With the help of Mary Beard, Liz dresses up as the girl from the painting "At Raven Hill Fair" and wins it much to the displeasure of Richelle (the fashionista of the group).

Mrs Drisk-Haskell, who was first introduced in "Poison Pen", is also mentioned again in this book.
    t. She was being blackmailed in "Poison Pen" and in this book she invites along many of her "dear, close and personal friends" to the fair.

Percy discovers that the painting in Mary Beard's living room is a fake.
    f. Tom Moysten actually discovers this. He is the arty one of the group and pays close attention to the painting. At the fair, he does caricatures of people although it doesn't always flatter the customers!

Which two famous Australian painters, whose works have also been stolen in the book, are mentioned?
    Dobell and Drysdale. By cracking the case, the gang also manage to solve two other cases involving the theft of paintings which coincidentally are carried out by the same criminal.

Who says "Hello Nickers"?
    Percy. Since Percy kept on saying "Hello Nickers, Hello Percy and Hello Mary", he deduced that his owner must be called Mary and realised that it was Mary Beard.
