    No. The males and the females live apart all year except in the mating season. The females live in tighter groups a little way away from the stags or sometimes with no stags at all. The males either wander alone or form little groups of up to eight stags staying a little way away from the females.

What are buttons?
    The stubs of antlers that grow on a adult stag's head. Buttons occur when antlers start to grow. In deer farming operations, the stags are usually rounded up, put in a pen, given a drug then have their antlers sawed off.

Which animals require the same height of fence as the average deer fence?
    ostriches. Deer fences, like ostrich fences are twice the height of sheep, cow and horse fences. This is because deer are capable of jumping nearly two meters from a stationary position to reach food, s when frightened they can jump well over their already two meter tall fences.
