George Bernard Shaw wrote a play about the romanticising of war and created the mythical character of the Chocolate Cream Soldier, who didn't really exist except in the mind of a romantic girl. Which play was it?

    Arms and the Man.

Agatha Christie wrote a play about people trapped in a lonely house in a snowstorm, with one of them a killer about to kill again.
    The Mousetrap. 'The Mousetrap' by Agatha Christie, 'What the Butler Saw' is by Joe Orton, 'The Revenger's Tragedy' by Cyril Tourneur, and 'The Hostage' is by Brendan Behan.

Arthur Miller wrote this play about the trials and tribulations of the life of Willy Loman and his family.
    The Death of a Salesman. 'All My Sons' is also by Miller, but 'The Admirable Crichton' is by J.M Barrie, and 'Heartbreak House' is by G.B. Shaw.

Peter Shaffer's play about Mozart's rise to greatness, and his great rivalry with Salieri.
    Amadeus. 'Five Finger Exercise' is also by Shaffer, 'Look Back in Anger' is by John Osborne, and 'Blithe Spirit' is a famous Noel Coward play.

Shakespeare's tale of a disturbed prince, tortured by thoughts that his own mother might by party to the murder of his father, and his desire for revenge against his murdering stepfather.
    Hamlet. Hamlet suspects his mother, Gertrude, of knowing and abetting Claudius, the man she later marries, in the killing of his father. This obsession for revenge destroys his life and those around him.

In Beckett's famous play, Estragon and Vladimir are hanging around in a perpetual state of boredom.
    Waiting for Godot. Krapp's Last Tape' is also by Beckett, 'The Hostage' is by Brendan Behan and 'The Room' is by Harold Pinter.

Is Jack really Jack, or can he be Ernest? He has to go to great lengths to find out the value of truth! This is one of Oscar's Wilde's best and funniest.
    The Importance of being Earnest.

Shakespeare writes about Antonio who has borrowed money from Shylock. Shylock now wants his 'pound of flesh' and Antonio's life. Antonio's friend Bassanio and his lady love Portia must save Antonio from death. Can they?
    The Merchant of Venice. Portia proves her worth as a legal mind and saves Antonio!

Love and intrigue and enjoyment galore, with Mrs Malaprop adding a touch of hilarity by mispronouncing and misusing words. A comedy by Richard Brinsley Sheridan.
    The Rivals. 'The Comedy of Errors' is by Shakespeare, 'She Stoops to Conquer' is by Oliver Goldsmith and 'Marriage a la Mode' is by John Dryden.

A shipwreck, an island, a lovelorn young man, a beautiful sheltered girl, her domineering father, a mischief-making sprite...all this makes for lots of confusion and misunderstanding before it all ends the way it should. A play by Shakespeare.
    The Tempest.
