Special Sub-Topic: Elementary Elements

Krypton, Yttrium, Platinum, Oxygen, Nitrogen.

Krypton. Kr - Krypton Y - Yttrium Pt - Platinum O - Oxygen N - Nitrogen KrYPtON Krypton (Kr) is one of the noble gases; it appears at position 36 in the periodic table. It takes its names from the Greek word 'kryptos' meaning 'hidden'.

Calcium, Rubidium, Oxygen, Nitrogen.
Carbon. Ca - Calcium Rb - Rubidium O - Oxygen N - Nitrogen CaRbON Carbon (C) appears as the sixth element on the periodic table. Common allotropes of carbon are graphite and diamond. The radioactive isotope, Carbon 14, is used for dating archaeological artefacts.

Arsenic, Tantalum, Titanium, Neon.
Astatine. As - Arsenic Ta - Tantalum Ti - Titanium Ne - Neon AsTaTiNe Astatine (At) is number eighty-five on the periodic table; it is a radioactive element with a half-life of about eight hours so it is very rare.

Sulfur, Iodine, Lithium, Cobalt, Nitrogen.
Silicon. S - Sulfur I - Iodine Li - Lithium Co - Cobalt N - Nitrogen SILiCoN Silicon (Si) is fourteenth on the periodic table. Pure silicon is used for making semi-conductors in the electronics industry.

Boron, Iodine, Samarium, Uranium, Thorium.
Bismuth. B - Boron I - Iodine Sm - Samarium U - Uranium Th - Thorium BISmUTh Bismuth (Bi) is at position 83 on the periodic table; it is a heavy metal. It is very slightly radio-active - its half-life is estimated to be a billion times the life of the universe.

Argon, Selenium, Nickel, Carbon.
Arsenic. Ar - Argon Se - Selenium Ni - Nickel C - Carbon ArSeNiC Arsenic (As) is thirty-third on the periodic table. It is extremely toxic, and has been used as a murder weapon in the past. It is suspected that one of the characters in Agatha Christie's "They Do It With Mirrors" is suffering from arsenic poisoning. Chromated copper arsenate, made from copper and chrome as well as arsenic, was used as a wood preservative, but its use was discontinued in many places because of the danger of acid rain causing the arsenic to escape into the environment. http://toxipedia.org/display/toxipedia/Chromated+Copper+Arsenate+(CCA)

Xenon, Nobelium, Nitrogen.
Xenon. Xe - Xenon No - Nobelium N - Nitrogen XeNoN Xenon (Xe) is at position 54 on the periodic table. It is one of the noble gases and is used in arc lamps and also in anaesthetics.

Cobalt, Phosphorus, Phosphorus, Erbium.
Copper. Co - Cobalt P - Phosphorus P - Phosphorus Er - Erbium CoPPEr Copper (Cu) is a metal with atomic number 29. It gets its name from the island of Cyprus, which was the main source of copper in Roman times. It has been used for making water pipes and electric wires.

Phosphorus, Holmium, Sulfur, Phosphorus, Holmium, Ruthenium, Sulfur.
Phosphorus. P - Phosphorus Ho - Holmium S - Sulfur P - Phosphorus Ho - Holmium Ru - Ruthenium S - Sulfur PhoSPHoRuS Phosphorus (P) is the fifteenth element on the periodic table. Phosphorus compounds are used in toothpaste, fireworks, explosives and detergents.

Iridium, Oxygen, Nitrogen.
Iron. Ir - Iridium O - Oxygen N - Nitrogen IrON Iron (Fe) is number 26 on the periodic table. Iron has been used for making objects for around 5000 years, but the advent of the coke-fired blast furnace for making cast iron was one of the main factors in the industrial revolution of the eighteenth century.
