There are several more breeds that are thought to have influenced the POA. The POA is a spotted pony breed. It must have appaloosa markings, such as the spotted coat, mottled skin and striped hooves. The height can range from 46" to 56" at the withers. The POA registry was started in 1954.

    Azteca. The Azteca is a cross between the quarter horse and the Andalusian. The registry was formed in 1989. They can come in any solid color, but are usually born black and turn gray with age.
