Since 1985 the British Army's standard assault rifle has been the SA80. What was the name of its predecessor?

    L1A1/FN FAL. The FN FAL served the British well during the troubles in Northern Ireland and the Falklands conflict, however by the mid 1980s it was far inferior to the other assault rifles of the world, such as the M16 and AK47.

The Bren Gun was the British Army's standard LMG during the Second World War, but it was never a British design. What was it modelled on?
    ZB vz 26 LMG. The Czech made ZB vz 26 LMG provided the basis for the Bren gun, British engineers slightly altered the appearance of the weapon before mass producing it.

After the Second World War, American engineers came up with a replacement for the M1 Garand. They came up with a weapon that was essentially too good. What was it?
    M14. Upon its introduction in 1957, the M14 was capable of killing at extreme ranges, much further then any enemies were likly to be engaged at. Therefore the US military dropped the rifle from service claiming, "It was too good".

Israeli paratroopers famously carry which sub-machine gun?
    UZI. The UZI is the perfect weapon for paratroopers. Its small size and ruggedness means that upon parachuting into battle, it is easy to carry and very reliable.

In 1947, a young Russia army soldier designed a weapon that revelutionised the way that assault rifles were manufactured in the future. The assault rifle was the AK47. Who was the designer?
    Mikhail Kalashnikov. The AK47 set the benchmark for assault rifle production. Its cheapness and its the near impossibility of jamming or other malfuction means that the AK47 is one of the most wiidly produced weapons in history.

Heckler and Koch is one of the most widly renowned firearms manufactuers. They are based in Germany and their weapons are snapped up by armies all over the world. Which of these is NOTt a Heckler and Koch design?
    SVT-40. The SVT-40 was a Russian made semi-automatic rifle designed to replace the Mosin Nagant. It wqas largely inspired by the American M1 Garand. It was mainly issued to NCOs. It served Russia well but it was withdrawn from service during the late war years. Only sniper rifle models remained in service.

During the late 1800s, the "Wild West" of America was ruled by the man who had the fastest draw. Many cowboys and lawmen however, favored more high-powered weapons such as a rifle. What was the name of the rifle that "ruled the West"?
    Winchester 92 Carbine. The Winchester was the iconic gun of the Wild West. It was used by cowboys, lawmen, soldiers and even the Indians got their hands on some from traders.

The US army had several infantry weapons available to their troops during the Second World War, but which of these was NOT in service?
    M14. The M14 did not enter service until 1957. All three of the others were in use throughout the Second World War.

Throughout the 20th century, there has been one particular weapon that has stood out as one of the weapons that has been around and in service for the longest. What is it?
    Lee Enfield. The Lee Enfield was first introduced to the British army in 1895 and has remained in use throughout the world, latterly by various police forces.

And finally, on the 14th of April 1865, Abraham Lincoln was shot in the head by John Wilkes Booth. What gun did Booth use?
    .44 Henry Deringer. The bullet that Booth fired lodged itself 6 inches inside Lincoln's head. He lay unconcious for 9 hours before dying.
