Born on 3 June 1865, George was the second son of Edward VII and Queen Alexandra. Who was his elder brother?

    Clarence. Albert Victor Duke of Clarence was born in 1864, he died of pneumonia on 14 January 1892.

George was given three other names at his birth. Which is not one of them?
    William. He was named George Frederick Ernest Albert.

George joined the Royal Navy in 1877. On which ship did he first served as a Royal cadet?
    HMS Britannia. He served on the HMS Canada in the early 1880s and on the HMS Trush in 1890. He spent 15 years in the Royal Navy.

After the death of George's brother, Queen Victoria quickly reacted and arranged George's wedding to Mary of Teck who had been engaged to the deceased. When was this marriage celebrated?
    6 July 1893. This union turned out to be quite satisfying for George and Mary. In fact, George was the first English King since Charles I *not* to be involved in sex scandals!

George and Mary had 6 children. How many of them reigned?
    2. Edward VIII and George VI.

On the death of Victoria and accession of his father Edward VII, George, who was already Duke of York, received a new title and duchy. What duchy was it?
    Cornwall. He had been made Duke of York when his brother died.

    Herbert Asquith & Asquith. In November 1910, Asquith made an 'hypothetical understanding' with the King that in the event of a Liberal victory in the next election, the King would create many Liberal peers to counteract the Unionist opposition. Asquith made public this secret agreement in August 1911, the King never quite forgave him.

George was crowned on 22 June 1911. Soon after, he sailed to a foreign country to receive oaths of allegiance from its leaders. Which country did he travel to?
    India. India was the greatest of England's dominions. The King received the oaths of allegiance from the Indian Princes in front of thousands of people.

In 1917, George refused to offer asylum to one of his cousins for political reasons. Who was this unfortunate cousin?

    London. York, Lancaster and Fitzroy were also selected as potential names for the Royal House.

Shortly before his death, George said about his son and heir Edward: 'After I am dead, the boy will ruin himself in ___ months'. How many months did George give to his son?
    12 & twelve. In fact, it took only ten and a half. Edward became King on 20 January 1936 and abdicated on 10 December of the same year.
