Fun Trivia: H : Half-Life 2

Special Sub-Topic: Half Life 2: Episode Two

The game begins where "Half Life 2: Episode One" left off. After the destruction of the Citadel where does Gordon Freeman, the player controlled character, wake up?

On a derailed train.. "Episode One" left off with Gordon and Alyx escaping on a train. Due to the destruction of the Citadel, the train derailed and knocked both Alyx and Gordon out cold. When Gordon came to, he had to act quickly to escape the train which Alyx was already thrown out of. She helped Gordon free by opening the door with the Gravity Gun.

After witnessing a portal storm and encountering some zombies, Alyx and Gordon communicated with Eli Vance, Dr. Kleiner and Dr. Magnusson. Apparently the reason that the Combine are still after Alyx and Gordon is what?
Alyx has crucial information hidden on her transmission packet.. In "Half Life 2: Episode One", Alyx and Gordon stumbled upon a transmission saying that the Combine were going to open a super portal which would allow their entire force go to Earth and take-over. The information she gathered could either make or break the Combine's offensive, so it was with good reason that they were after Gordon and Alyx.

While Gordon and Alyx searched for a way to get to the White Forest base, Gordon was pinned to the ground by rubble while a certain creature mortally wounded Alyx. What kind of creature was it?
Hunter. The Hunter was first seen in a video transmission from Dr. Mossman, in "Episode One". The creature stormed the winter base and forced Dr. Mossman to flee. In "Episode Two", the Hunter made its first appearance against Gordon and Alyx. The Hunter's first move was piercing three holes in Alyx's back, killing her. Hunter's are three legged creature with amazing speed and firepower. They fire exploding flechettes at the character that do great damage. Two to three shots from a magnum or shotgun will kill them. Also the alternate fire on the Combine heavy automatic can take them out in one hit.

Before an Antlion could eat Alyx Vance, a Vortigaunt arrived and took it out. It saved Gordon and told him that he could not save Alyx alone. After calling for reinforcements from his fellow Vortigaunts, Gordon had to defend a mine from incoming Antlions. Other than the two rebels already stationed there, what else did Gordon have to assist in the battle?
All of the above (Two turret guns, Vortigaunts, Hopper mines). The battle started out easy with small waves of Antlions. The turrets and the rebels took care of them easy. The hopper mines were also useful tools, scattered around the area ready to deploy. Once the battle became really intense, the turret guns broke and fortunately some Vortigaunts arrived to help in the battle. Using their electric powers, they decimated the Antlions and returned to assist in the healing of Alyx Vance.

After being unable to heal Alyx, the Vortigaunts realized they were missing an important ingredient to the healing process. What was that ingredient?
The Antlion's larval extracts. The larval extracts have healing properties and heal whatever they touch. With help from the Vortigaunt leader, Gordon managed to find some and save Alyx. Before saving her, the mysterious G-Man arrived and spouted some of his trademark mysterious dialogue before telling Alyx, "Mmm. Well...Now...Listen carefully, my dear. When you see your father relay these words: Prepare for unforeseen consequences." Unforeseen Consequences happened to be the first chapter in "Half Life", after the resonance cascade.

After regaining her health and helping Gordon kill the Antlion Guardian, Alyx and Freeman found a vehicle to use. What kind of vehicle was it?
A muscle car. The vehicle itself was modeled off of a 1969 Dodge Charger. The vehicle had one function other than driving in the beginning and that was to fire some nitro to speed up. The further the player got into the game, the more features were added to the car. Those features were a tracker to locate hidden caches in the game, a tracker to find the car, and a special container that allowed the player to store one Magnusson device in their vehicle during the final battle.

Immediately after arriving at the White Forest base, Gordon was forced to clear out a launch hangar over-run by Combine forces. The survival of the rocket and the eventual launch was a crucial priority because it would do what?
Close the Combine superportal. After the destruction of the Striders in the final battle, the rocket was launched. Despite a payload anomaly of 8.5 pounds, the rocket was released. The extra weight happened to be Dr. Kleiner's pet headcrab, Lamarr, and a garden gnome if the player decided to carry it through the game from beginning to end. Once the rocket was finally launched, the explosion it caused successfully closed the Combine portal.

After calling Gordon aside, Dr. Magnusson showed off a new weapon that could take down a Strider in one hit. Obviously in love with his own inventions, what did Dr. Magnusson name the device?
The Magnusson Device. The Magnusson Device was an explosive used to kill Striders. The player had to use the Gravity gun to fire them onto a Strider. The device would stick to the Strider. The player would then have to shoot the device causing the Strider to explode. The final battle of the game forced the player to make use of the Magnusson Devices and quick wits, to defeat a dozen Striders and twice as many Hunters that happened to be attacking the White Forest base.

After showing Gordon his new weapon, Dr. Magnusson told him that he may be able to forgive Gordon for a major issue that occurred in Black Mesa involving what?
A microwave tuna casserole.. Dr. Magnusson did not give the resonance cascade too much thought because his microwave tuna casserole was the big issue that caused the friction between himself and Gordon. If the player had ever played the first game, they might remember a part where the player goes into a dining room and sees two scientists, two pop machines and a microwave. The player could activate the microwave several times until the food inside it exploded, causing one of the scientists to shout at Gordon. The reference to that moment was one of the more comedic statements in "Half Life 2: Episode Two".

Right at the very end of the game, some Advisors arrived at the rebel base and psychically pinned the main character to the ground. Using their special tentacles one of the Advisors killed a main character from the "Half Life" universe. Which character did the Advisor kill?
Eli Vance. Alyx refuelled a helicopter so that she and Gordon could go to the ghost ship, "The Borealis" and investigate the truth behind its disappearance. Before they could leave, two Combine Advisors arrived to ruin the day. They grabbed Gordon and Alyx, initially leaving Eli alone. Eli tried to free Alyx by whacking the Advisor with a pipe. The Advisor, angered by that, captured Eli and then pierced Eli's head with it's brain draining tentacle. Shortly afterwards, Dog arrived to help. Dog injured one of the Advisors enough to cause them both to escape. The game ended with Alyx crying over her dad's body while the screen dramatically faded to black.
