    Ricky Ponting. Ponting scored an incredible 242. He was caught by Sehwag off Kumble's bowling. Due to him, Australia amassed a total of 556. Waugh scored 30 and Langer scored 58. 242 is Ponting's best score. His previous best was 206.

Who took five wickets for India in first innings?
    Anil Kumble. Kumble took 5-154. Nehra took 2-115, Pathan took 1-136 and Agarkar took 2-119.

Who scored a record-breaking 303-run partnership to turn the tide towards India?
    Dravid and Laxman. At one point, India were 85-4 but from that Dravid (233) and Laxman (148) together scored 303 runs helped India score 523 giving Aussies a lead of only 33 runs. This partnership revived the memories of the Kolkatta Test Match between Australia and India in which two had helped India win. This double century of Dravid was his fourth double century putting him in joint position with Sunil Gavaskar. And Dravid is holding the record for the highest score by an Indian Test batsman abroad.

In the Australian second innings who was the most successful bowler for India?
    Ajit Agarkar. Agarkar took career best 6-41 to make Aussies collapse for 196. Pathan took 0-24, Nehra took 1-21 and Sachin took 2 important wickets of Waugh and Martyn for 36 runs to help dismiss Aussies for 196. Both Waugh and Martyn were dismissed due to brilliant catches by Dravid.

Who topscored for Australia in the second innings?
    Adam Gilchrist. Gilchrist scored 43, Waugh 42, Ponting 0 and Katich scored 31.

Who took most wickets for Australia in the second innings?
    Katich and MacGill. Katich took 2-22 and MacGill took 2-101 and Williams took 0-34.

Who played superbly in the second innings again for India to seal the victory for India?
    Rahul Dravid. Dravid scored and unbeaten 72 but there were useful contributions from Tendulkar (37), Laxman (32) and Sehwag (47). Ganguly scored only 12.

Who was awarded the man of the match?
    Rahul Dravid. Agarkar took 6-41 but Dravid scored 233 and 72 notout to seal India's victory. India now have a 1-0 lead in the four test series.
