Fun Trivia: S : Star Trek

Special Sub-Topic: Inside the Enterprise-E

Including the Enterprise-E, how many starship Enterprises were there? (Excluding the NX-01 and the NCC 1701-J).

6 & six. The Enterprise-E is the sixth fully commissioned starship to bear the name. The ones before it were the Constitution class/refit NCC-1701, the Constitution class refit NCC-1701-A, the Excelsior class NCC-1701-B, the Ambassador class NCC-1701-C and the Galaxy class NCC-1701-D.

How long is the Enterprise-E?
685 meters. The Enterprise-E is currently the longest starship in Starfleet. Although the Galaxy class ships are the largest, they have a length of only 642m. The length of the Sovereign class has been debated, but the most widely accepted length is around 685m.

How many decks does the Enterprise-E have?
    24. Although the Enterprise-E is longer than its Galaxy class predecessor, it only has 24 decks, as opposed to the Galaxy's 42. In "Star Trek: Nemesis" a deck 29 was mentioned, however this has been accepted as an error, and the originally mentioned value in "First Contact" of 24 has been kept.

Since the Enterprise-E is much smaller than the Enterprise-D, there was no room for a captain's yacht like on the Enterprise-D.
False. Actually the Enterprise-E is equipped with a captain's yacht, as seen in "Star Trek: Insurrection". In fact, the Enterprise-E's yacht is warp capable, whereas the yacht on the Enterprise-D had only impulse engines.

The Enterprise-E is equipped with Starfleet's newest weapons, including the latest torpedoes. What are these torpedoes called?
Quantum. The Enterprise-E carries the blue quantum torpedoes. It fires them out of a circular launcher under the saucer hull, among many other places. It is estimated that the Enterprise-E carries up to 9 torpedo launchers.

Who is the commanding officer of the Enterprise-E as of 2379? (Full name and rank).
Captain Jean-Luc Picard. Captain Picard, captain of the late Enterprise-D, is also the commanding officer of the Enterprise-E. He carries the great responsibility of being in command of the flagship of Starfleet and the Federation.

What is the maximum speed that the Enterprise-E can reach Safely?
Warp 9.7. The maximum safe 12-hour speed for the Enterprise-E is 9.7. The normal cruise speed is around warp 7. Although the Sovereign class vessels may be capable of raeching higher speeds, this is very risky as it could cause a warp core breach.

Where was the Enterprise-E constructed?
San Francisco Fleet Yards, Earth. The Enterprise-E was launched from the San Francisco Fleet Yards, in orbit around Earth.

The Enterprise-E, like its predecessor the Enterprise-D, has a separated flight mode. (I.E., the saucer can separate from the main hull).
False. Due to the unique shape of the hull, the Enterprise-E cannot separate her saucer section. However, in an emergency, the warp nacelles may be ejected an an escape at impulse be made.

How many lucky officers and crew does the Enterprise-E regularly carry?
    885. Although it is still under some debate, the basic accepted crew count for the Enterprise-E is around 885. Although there is some room for error, a crew count of 1325 is much too high, as the larger Galaxy class only carried about 1014 or so. Also, a crew count of 425 or 540 is too low, as the many systems on board the Enterprise-E require a lot of officers and crew.
