Welcome Recruit. Time for you first lesson. Your Platoon Commander asks if you are ready for training. You reply with the appropriate compliment, Yes...what?

    Sir. It is polite to refer to anyone as Sir, however any Officer in the Austrlian Army should be respectfully referred to as Sir.

Ok Recruit, it's time to collect your equipment. Which item would you most need to survive in the field?
    Canteen. While the other options may be useful, a canteen full of water is vital to ensure you are well hydrated at all times.

You're looking a little tubby Recruit; what should you do to make sure you're fit to join the Army?
    All of these (Push Ups, Sit Ups, Run). Each of these drills works a different part of the body, and to promote good health and fitness, all should be applied.

Okay Soldier, you are ready to start using weapons. You've been given a rifle at a shooting range and it's your turn to impress. What should you concentrate on the most to ensure you are highly accurate?
    your breathing. Breathing is essential for accuracy. Soldiers are taught how to breath when shooting to ensure each shot lands exactly where it was intended.

Private, it seems you have not been paying attention to your ironing. Your punishment is to clean the toilets at 1430 hours. What time will you report for duty?
    2:30 p.m.. The twenty-four hour clock is used so as to avoid confusion in timings. This can become very important in situations in which time is critical and in protocol.

It's time for a break Private, relax and enjoy some lunch. Where will you report to?
    The Mess. The Mess provides meals to all the soldiers and is a welcome place to relax and unwind, particularly after a hard day's work.

MAN DOWN, MAN DOWN! One of your mates has been shot in the chest! Luckily you were taught First Aid during your training. What is the first thing you should do?
    Ensure the safety of yourself and your mate. You must ensure that everyone is safe before you can commence treatment. It is no good having more then one injured soldier.

Congratulations Private, you have been awarded the highest medal for your bravery. Which medal is the greatest honour (as recognised by the British Commonwealth)?
    Victoria Cross. The Victoria Cross is the highest award offered in the British Commonwealth.

Due to your oustanding service, you have been promoted. You now have two 'hooks' on your arm. Which rank have you been promoted to?
    Corporal. A Corporal always has two 'V-shaped' patches also known as 'hooks' to indicate his/her rank.

Well the time has come to assess your suitability to the Australian Army. Which person would make a suitable soldier?
    All these people would make suitable soldiers.. The Army is made up of a diverse group of people. The important factors in a soldier are his/her ability to perform the duty they were hired for just like any other job. I hope you found my quiz enjoyable and a little informative. :)
