After getting her pilot's license, she became a daredevil stunt pilot in order to earn money. She was working to establish an American flight school for blacks when she fell to her death during a practice run in Jacksonville, FL in 1926. In 1995, Coleman's accomplishments were commemorated on a U.S. postage stamp.
