Randy Moss, Chad Pennington, Giradie Mercer, Mike Bartrum, John Wade and Paul Toviessi are all players from Marshall who made it into the NFL. Jerry Porter of the Oakland Raiders played his college ball for Marshall's in state rival, West Virginia University. Porter replaced James Jett at reciever in Oakland, who also went to WVU.
