This country has many areas below sea level as well as polders, land reclaimed froms the sea. Its biggest port, Rotterdam, is on the Meuse River.

    The Netherlands. There are actually hills in the southeast Netherlands, part of the Ardennes, but most of the country is flat. 'Netherlands' means 'low lands'.

This country, as well as its capital, is bisected by the Danube River. The country also contains one of the largest European lakes, Lake Balaton.
    Hungary. The two parts of Hungary's capital, Budapest, which are separated by the Danube, are called Buda and Pest.

This country, which contains the northernmost point of mainland Europe, is known for its irregular, jagged coastline.
    Norway. The mountain-enclosed narrow bays that are abundant on the Norwegian coastline, are called fjords.

    Slovenia. These caves are the Postojna caves, carved in limestone by surface water.

    Luxembourg. Luxembourg was a fortress in Roman times because of its natural defensive position.

This is the largest country completely in Europe, not counting Russia.
    Ukraine. France is the second largest and Spain is third.

This country contains the town of Bastogne, critical during the World War II Battle of the Bulge. The battle mostly took place in this country.
    Belgium. Bastogne is in the Ardenne Mountains.
