This 1610 work was probably Shakespeare's last piece. It's a comedy about Miranda and her father, Prospero, who rules the island's magical creatures who revolt against him.

    The Tempest. Other characters in "The Tempest" are the spirit Ariel and the evil monster Caliban.

This 1630 work is the best-known play by Tirso de Molina. It follows Don Juan (as he makes his first literary appearance) as he wrecks his family's reputation and is finally dragged to hell by a statue of someone he killed. This is "The Love _______".
    Rogue. Tirso de Molina was the pseudonym of Gabriel Téllez.

This is a 422 BC work by Aristophanes which is a satire of the Athenian jury system. It tells the story of Bdelycleon, who opposes his father, Philocleon, for supporting the ruler, Cleon; and Bdelycleon, who house arrests Philocleon, sets up mock trials for his father.
    The Wasps. "The Wasps" is a classic Attic Comedy play, which means it includes the necessary elements of parados (chorus explains situation), agon(general debate between characters), and parabasis (chorus talks to the audience).

This Shakespeare 1602 work is subtitled "the Moor of Venice". The main character is a professional soldier for Venice and is tricked into killing his wife, Desdemona, by the villain Iago.
    Othello & Otello & The Tragedy of Othello. "The Tragedy of Othello, the Moor of Venice" is based on Giraldi Cinthio's story, "Hecatommithi".

Written by Lope de Vega at the begining of the 17th century, this historical drama follows military commander Fernan Gómez de Guzmán and the mayor's daughter, Laurencia. Laurencia rejects Guzmán's marriage proposal for a peasant's love, making Guzmán rape and kill her at her wedding feast, only for the town villagers to kill Guzmán and eventually be protected by the king.
    Fuenteovejuna. Fuenteovejuna is the name of the village in which this story takes place in 1476. The three incorrect answers were also works by Lope Félix de Vega Carpio, or Lope de Vega.

This 1955 Tennessee Williams play is centered around sex and violence. The story is about Maggie trying to keep her inheritance from her husband, Brick's, family by announcing her impending pregnancy as Big Daddy (Brick's father) is dying.
    Cat on a Hot Tin Roof. The film version of "A Cat on a Hot Tin Roof" was one of the top ten box-office hits of 1958 and was the first Oscar nomination for Paul Newman (as Best Actor, one of the 6 nominations the movie was up for).

This work, which was first produced by the Royal Court Theatre in London in 1905, was written by George Bernard Shaw. This is his longest drama and is subtitled "A Comedy and a Philosophy". Some of its characters are John Tanner, Henry Straker, Ann Whitefield, and Mendoza.
    Man and Superman. Because the play was so long, the third act is usually performed separately under the name "Don Juan in Hell: A Dream".

This is a well-known Greek drama by Sophocles. The plot boils down to Apollo's oracle's prediction that Oedipus would learn that he had murdered his father and married his mother. This is "Oedipus _______".
    Tyrannus & Rex & Oedipus Rex & Oedipus Tyrannus. This work is more properly called "Oedipus Tyrannus", and was written in around 429 BC.

This is a 1921 Luigi Pirandello play which follows six characters who act out their unfinished play for a director. The people are a) man who meets his stepdaughter in a brothel, b) the man's remarried wife c) the man's disgruntled son, d) the man's young children, e) a boy who commits suicide, and f) a girl who drowns in a fountain. This is "Six Characters in Search of a(n) ___________".
    Author. Luigi Pirandello lived from 1867 to 1936, and with the success of "Six Characters in Search of an Author", Mussolini gave him money to build the d'Arte di Roma in 1925. Pirandello was later awarded the 1934 Nobel Prize for Literature.

This was Edward Albee's most successful play. This 1962 work is filled with sardonic humor involving Martha and her husband George.
    Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?. Albee also wrote three Pulitzer Prize-winning works, including "A Delicate Balance", "Seascape", and "Three Tall Women".
