Special Sub-Topic: Name the Movie Part 2 of 3
A successful man in his own world of misery meets an intelligent man on a plane. When he gets off the plane he finds that his apartment has blown up. Desperate for a place to stay he calls up the man he met on the plane and asks to stay with him. Then they come up with a revolutionary club that soon continues to develop into a growing threat that the man from the plane controls. The other now wants out, but realizes that he must first put an end to this dangerous club.
Fight Club. This is one of my favorite movies ever. "You are not your job or how much money you have in the bank" is actually a line repeated over and over again in the movie. The main character's actual name is never given, but the man from the plane is Tyler Durden. If I continue to elaborate I will give away the surprise-ending. "Natural Born Killers" is about a couple that goes around the country gunning people down on the side of the highway.
Several people on a plane fly through a weird disturbance in the weather. On the other side they find most of the passengers on the plane have disappeared and an abandoned world with stale food and drink, and to make matters worse, their plane is empty of fuel. While they are exploring they all start hearing a distant sound of something approaching. When a psychic girl tells them that monsters are coming to kill them, they realize they only have a few hours to get the plane refueled and get out of there before they are killed.
The Langoliers. This is based on a Stephen King book. They had all been sleeping, which is why they didn't disappear like the other passengers. The disturbance in the weather sent them back through time to a dead-world that the Langoliers were devouring. I thought this movie was pretty scary. "The Sixth Sense" is about a boy that can see dead people, "Bless the Child" is about Satan trying to get hold of a powerful child, and "The Terminator" is about a cyborg sent back in time to kill the mother of the machine's worst enemy.
A man wakes up in a hospital bed and finds that there is no one around. He continues his search and finds some people, but they are strange and start chasing him. Then two normal people come out and get him to safety. They then explain it was a virus epidemic that wiped out most of the population and turned them into zombie-like beings. Now they are trying to find a more suitable place to stay with the help of a father and daughter who picked up a broadcast from surviving soldiers. But the soldiers wind up being untrustworthy and now they have two enemies, the infected and the soldiers.
28 Days Later. The best action/horror/sci-fi movie I've ever seen. Horrifying zombie-like people and very-real soldiers. It's named "28 Days Later" because the main character, Jim, woke up 28 days after the infection started to spread. "28 Days" is an actual movie, but is about an alcoholic trying to stop drinking in 28 days, not zombie-like people. "The End of Days" is about satan trying to take over the world, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Based on a true story about a teenage felon. The teenage felon is forging checks professionally, using up thousands of fake-dollars. This sets an FBI investigator hot on his trail.
Catch Me If You Can. A great movie with stunning plot twists and character devolopment. Great performances by Tom Hanks and Leonardo DiCaprio. It earned over $156,000,000 at the box-office. "The Rundown" stars The Rock.
A military group is sent to destroy a guerilla base. After the mission is a success one of them is killed suddenly by a near-invisible monster with glowing yellow eyes. As the survivors run it becomes more apparent that they are dealing with a highly advanced alien with a cloaking device made for the jungle.
Predator. "Alien" is about a primitive alien that is accidentally brought aboard a ship. In the sequel to "Predator" you can see the skull of an alien from the "Alien" series hanging on the wall. This is because of several popular comic-books pitting the two alien species against each other. "Carnage" is a little-known movie about the lives of the people that receive, in some way, the parts of a bull killed in a bull-fight. Spectre is an enemy in the popular videogame series "Doom".
The third and final installment to a huge sci-fi epic about a Chosen One that is on a quest to free humanity from the computer-program we all live in.
The Matrix Revolutions. "The Matrix" is the first, "The Matrix Reloaded" is the second, "The Animatrix" is an anime spin-off that explains more of the world the Wachowski brothers set up, and "The Matrix Revolutions" is the final, and in my opinion the best, installment that brings it all to a dramatic conclusion.
A man is struggling with his job and his car when he suddenly finds a plain mask. When he decides to put it on this mask transforms him into another person that can do almost anything. Now bad people want to take it from him and he has to save himself and his girlfriend.
The Mask. This movie starred Jim Carrey in yet another of his comedic achievements. This movie features a classic scene in which Jim Carrey's character makes an entire police force dance and sing. "Predator" is about an alien hunting a military group in the forest, "The Jackal" I'm not that sure about, and "The Haunted Mask" is a story by R.L. Stine if my information is correct.
This movie takes place in the eight days of Chanukah (the holiday the Jewish religion celebrates while Christians celebrate Christmas) in which a drunk is taken in by a deformed old man. The old man and his sister try to get this man to change by making him cry about his parents' death when he was only twelve.
Eight Crazy Nights. This is Adam Sandler's first animated movie, and isn't as funny as most of his other movies. "The Santa Clause" is about a man that is turned into Santa Clause because he accidentally killed little old Saint Nick. "Little Nicky" is another Adam Sandler movie in which the devil's son comes to Earth to retrieve his brothers and bring them back to hell before their father dies and Earth is turned into another hell, both great Adam Sandler movies.
A prequel to a Jim Carrey comedy. Two "special" high-school students bump into each other as they are on their way to school. They soon become best friends and accidentally get involved in a big conspiracy that they have no idea exists even at the end of the movie.
Dumb and Dumberer. "Dude, Where's My Car?" is about two friends that got drunk one night and forgot everything about that night, when they wake up their car is missing however. As they go searching for it they find out that they got involved in several different dealings that are all linked to one alien artifact. "Dumb and Dumber" is the original in the series starring Jim Carrey, and instant classic. Unfortunately the same can't be said about "Dumb and Dumberer" as many didn't like it nearly as much as the original.
In an attempt to cure a certain disease, scientists mess with nature by experimenting on sharks. However, the sharks become super-intelligent and gigantic as a result and wind-up escaping from captivity. But there is a titanium fence keeping them from the deep blue sea, so they lure the survivors into trap after trap, picking them off and maneuvering them into a position best suited for the sharks.
Deep Blue Sea. "Jaws" is about one gigantic shark that doesn't really have any great intelligence. "Lake Placid" is about a giant crocodile killing people in Lake Placid. "The Jackal" is about a man killing people. "Deep Blue Sea" stars LL Cool J and Samuel L. Jackson. Keep an eye out for the final quiz in this series.
