When Carly Patterson won the women's all around final, she became the third American to accomplish this feat.
    F. Carly was the second American to win the women's all-around final. The first was Mary Lou Retton. Carly outscored the competition on two of the four rotations. Svetlana Khorkina of Russia won the silver medal and Nan Zhang of China won the bronze.
