What was Paul's name before he became a Christian?

    Saul. Saul was a Jew who was well known for persecuting Christians, but when he became a Christian his name was changed to Paul. The name "Paul" actually means "small."

What city was Paul traveling to when he heard Jesus speak to him?
    Damascus. On his way to Damascus, Paul suddenly saw a bright light and heard Jesus say to him "Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me?" (Acts 9:4, NKJV) He was blind for three days after this, and he stayed with a man called Ananias during this time.

After Paul became a Christian he started preaching about Jesus, but some of the Jews did not like this and planned to kill him. When Paul found out about their plan, he escaped by being let down through the city walls in what kind of container?
    large basket. Acts 9:23 (NKJV): "Now after many days were past, the Jews plotted to kill him. But their plot became known to Saul. And they watched the gates day and night, to kill him. Then the disciples took him by night and let him down through the wall in a large basket."

Was Paul a Pharisee?
    yes. Paul himself said, "Men and brethren, I am a Pharisee, the son of a Pharisee..." (Acts 23:6b, NKJV). However, before Paul became a Christian he was a Pharisee who persucuted Christians; after he became a Christian, he used what he had learned as a Pharisee to help him preach about Jesus.

Paul wrote a number of the books in the New Testament. Where was Paul when he wrote many of them?
    in jail. Paul was often persecuted for preaching about Jesus, and was put in jail several times. He wrote the books of Colossians, Philemon, Ephesians, and Philippians from jail!

Where was Paul born?
    Tarsus. Acts 21:39 (NKJV): "But Paul said, 'I am a Jew from Tarsus, in Cilicia, a citizen of no mean city; and I implore you, permit me to speak to the people.'" In the Bible, Paul was often referred to as "Saul of Tarsus."

When Paul was preaching in the Greek city of Athens, he said that he had seen an altar to the ________ god. What is the missing word?
    unknown. Acts 17:22-23 (NKJV): "Then Paul stood in the midst of the Areopagus and said, 'Men of Athens, I perceive that in all things you are very religious; for as I was passing through and considering the objects of your worship, I even found an altar with this inscription: TO THE UNKNOWN GOD. Therefore, the One whom you worship without knowing, Him I proclaim to you.'"

Which one of these books in the New Testament did Paul NOT write?
    Matthew. Paul wrote Romans, Galatians, 2 Corinthians, and ten other books of the New Testament. Matthew, one of Jesus's twelve disciples, wrote the the book of Matthew!

When Paul was traveling to Rome, his boat was shipwrecked on the island of Malta. Paul and the ship's crew survived the wreck and were setting up a camp on the island when Paul was bitten by which one of these vicious animals?
    snake. The snake was poisonous, and everyone else thought that Paul would die. However, the Lord protected him, and he just shook off the snake and was fine.

Paul spent most of his life after becoming a Christian in what occupation?
    missionary. Paul took the Gospel of Jesus Christ all over the Roman Empire, the present-day Middle East and southern Europe. He was one of the greatest missionaries of his time, and brought many people to faith in Jesus.
