Special Sub-Topic: "Pros and Cons"
We start this episode being introduced to a Filipino couple, Cosme and Leonor. Cosme's eyes are wide open, fixated and he is repeatedly saying that he can see something. What can he see?
Red. It's Red! He's playing roulette and is convinced he has foreseen the ball land on red. He then proceeds to put all his chips, some $15,000 worth on red. Unfortunately, the ball lands on black 17. (Thanks to LV24PB_fan for picking up the nationality error.)
We are then introduced to another character who's at the Montecito. She's a beautiful con woman by the name of Shelly. The first con we see her pull is to convince one of the girls to buy her counterfeit chips. She says that her violent boyfriend is going to kill her, and to escape she needs to cash out, but he's watching...and so she's hiding out in front of the bathroom. Which gullible member of the staff does she trick into buying these phonies?
Delinda. Delinda believes her story and hands over $400 for the chips. As Delinda is walking down the casino floor, Nessa points out that the chips are counterfeit... much to Delinda's dismay. As Delinda asks Danny and Nessa whether she needs to tell Ed, Danny chuckles and shows the chip to a surveillance camera...where Ed is watching.
Ed calls Danny into his office, to pass on a gift that was sent to Danny from a whale. The whale had stayed at the Montecito the week before and sent this item to Danny as a way of saying thanks. It has a value of about $12,000 and plays a part in the capture of the con woman. What 'bling' does he receive?
Watch. Danny: "Holy crap, that's some serious bling!"
Ed: "What the heck is..."
Danny: "Just means nice watch"
Ed: "Oh...See, I thought you were referring to Delin..."
Sam's whales for this episode are two guys by the names of Michael Steadman and Elliott Weston. These clowns love gambling and bet with each other over just about anything! But their betting isn't just anything as most bets are for $10,000! During their stay at the Montecito...they bet on various different things, but which of these do they not bet on?
On whether Nikki Cox's breasts will win an Emmy. They both received slaps for their troubles in inquiring about the waitress' breasts. They made Sam check video footage to determine who's elevator opened first and also made her drive them to Laughlin and back! Two very rich morons these. Entertaining too.
Danny gets some romantic action in Peel nightclub this episode. Who is it with?
Shelly. Danny falls for the con woman, Shelly. She eyed off his expensive watch on his wrist and moves in on him. With Shelly being unbelievably hot, Danny can't resist. They are seen kissing in Peel, as well as a sex scene in a hotel room... in which Danny realizes that he's slept with a thief thanks to a call from Ed. Shelly is played by Alana De La Gaza... an absolute stunner.
Steadman and Weston are quite picky. They come to the Montecito at the same time every year and like everything to be the same whenever they do. First they get Sam to make sure they play at their favourite table... table 44. They won't gamble until they have that table. Sam works her magic to get the table, then they won't gamble as the seats have been changed! After the seats are changed back to what they are sued to...they can't gamble as their usual dealer, Julio, isn't there! Problem is, Julio doesn't work for the Montecito anymore... and making him come back to work for the Montecito is tough as he is currently where?
Nursing home. Poor Julio has retired and is currently residing in a nursing home. He looks he's about 85, yet Sam still manages to convince him to come and work as a dealer. Just the look on Julio's face is a classic. He is fantastically played by Don Perry, who has been in just about every comedy series known to man.
Cosme and Leonor have come to Las Vegas for one reason... to see their favourite performer! Cosme is lucky enough to get dragged up onto the stage by this performer and sing with him, which in turn kicks off Cosme's singing career! Who is this legendary singer, known as Mr Las Vegas?
Wayne Newton. Cosme is taken up on stage during 'Suspicious minds'. After the performance, Johnny Joosten, who runs the Bella Sara Lounge, takes him on as an entertainer. Leonor gets a job as a waitress too.
In this episode we catch a glimpse of one of the security guards. This guard is a regular character who from here on in becomes the head security guard and the guard that we see most often. What is his name?
Greg. Greg is always the first guard called upon and gets on well with Ed. He is seen more through season 2, including scenes where Ed always seems to take his car.
Steadman and Weston had placed a bet with each other on how long it would take Sam to go crazy with their requests. Sam finally breaks and tells them to get out after she brings Julio back and realizes she's made a mistake. When she finds out they had been playing her all along...she decides to get some revenge. How does she do so?
Charges them for everything they've been comped during the last 15 years. Her plan to back-charge them for 15 years is only a joke. She just wants to watch them sweat for a while until she comes clean. She pretends she doesn't know them so that they look like they are just trying to get a free comp.
All of the story lines in this episode feature around Cosme, Shelly and Steadman & Weston. The exploits and adventures of these guests get all of the staff involved except for one who doesn't feature in this episode. Who is it?
Mike. Delinda gets fooled by con-artist Shelly. Mary gets Cosme and Leonor tickets to Wayne Newton's show. Nessa helps out Shelly and Steadman/Weston throughout different parts. Mike isn't to be seen.
