Lorala. Shortly before the Ninth Cave left for the Summer Meeting, a 12 year old boy named Bologan was injured. His 10 year old sister, Lanoga, found him inside the family's dwelling and went to the dwelling of Marthona, because someone told her that Zelandoni was visiting there. When Zelandoni and Ayla arrived at Lanoga's family's dwelling, Ayla was shocked to see the baby, Lorala, who was approximately six months old, with no teeth and scrawny. Ayla questioned Lanoga about Lorala, and was told that her mother's milk had dried up. Ayla asked how Lanoga was feeding the baby, and Lanoga told her that she was feeding Lorala mashed up boiled roots. The day after Ayla and Zelandoni brought Bologan to Zelandoni's dwelling, Ayla took Lanoga and Lorala to a small stream to get a bath, because both of them were filthy. That same day, Ayla brought Lanoga and Lorala to Proleva's dwelling, where there was a meeting of mothers. Some of the mothers were nursing or about to give birth. Ayla talked to the mothers about nursing Lorala. The mothers decided to help the baby. If it wasn't for Ayla stepping in, Lorala would have died.

Who is Proleva?

Joharran's mate. Proleva is Joharran's mate, and mother of Jaradal. She is also in charge of putting together feasts for special occasions.

Jondecam. Jondecam is Levela's mate. He is also Kimeran's nephew and son the Zelandoni of The Second Cave.

Echozar's mother. Echozar's mother was a Clan woman. She was raped by one of the Others, and became pregnant. When her Clan found she was pregnant they kept her. When she gave birth to her son, the Clan thought he was deformed and cursed her with death. After she was forced to leave the security of the Clan, she got to know Andovan, and he helped her raise Echozar. Echozar was a child of mixed spirits, but was able to learn speech. Andovan taught him how to talk, while Yoma taught him the sign language of the Clan. Shortly after Andovan died, Yoma died, too. Echozar was left by himself and when he tried to join a Clan, they threw stones at him, when he tried to join a Cave, they called him an abomination. Finally, being able to take it any longer, Echozar tried to take his own life, but was saved by Dalanar. Echozar was adopted into the First Cave of The Lanzadonii, and became prommised to Joplaya, Dalanar's daughter.

Kimeran. Kimeran is the leader of the Second Cave, which is also known as Elder Hearth. He is the brother of Zelandoni of the Second Cave, and the uncle of Jondecam.

Madroman. Madroman was formerly called Ladroman. When Ladroman and Jondalar came of age, they both wanted Zolena to be their donii-woman, but Zolena only wanted Jondalar. Against their better judgment, Zolena and Jondalar fell in love. Jondalar asked Zolena to mate with him, and she said yes, but they were unaware that Ladroman was eavesdropping. Ladroman told everyone about the young couple's plan, and Jondalar, being very upset, punched Ladroman in the mouth, knocking the man's two front teeth out.
